(The famous 'why does the Panny boot up at just after mid-day') Any way, do all be patient if you update manually, when the progress bar is full (100%) a warning will come on screen telling you not to switch to standby, then the Panasonic name appears in the display, and it does seem as if nothing is happening (although I could hear some disc activity) so wait and let the Panny re boot until the channel picture is shown.
GG”
After my initial disappointment of earlier in the day, back at home @ 17:45 and it had updated... not sure how it did that considering it had not done it by 13:45, well past it's 12:05 check... and I had left in standby, not on
Irrespective, first impressions are very promising

-

Faster boot/ start up!
Quicker channel change!
Sharper, clearer graphics!
Faster response to all button commands (and within each menu) such as Menu, TV Guide, Direct Navigator and PIP/ PAP!
Chase play has not fallen down (yet!) using FF and RW at all speeds!
Pictures seem even sharper (but that could be my elation casuing this phenomenon!)
And if the following don't happen, I'll be extremely happy

-

failed or cut short recordings
sound blips
Just to check, I switched back on the "New Service Message" facility, to see if that irritation was addressed, and as yet unsure as it has already popped up! Profile aspect has
not been addressed - shame! And, it
would have been nice to find a padding feature... oh well
Its as though the Panny had a "car service" or even a processor upgrade...SimonHobson, in addition to debugging, do you think the code has been compiled more efficiently?
Happy, happy, happy... so far (and I don't want to be a cynic!)
PS I hope the TheEagle (come back!) is happy too!
