Hi - where is everyone? It has gone very quiet on here of late.

Last night I had a lock up for no apparant reason whilst watching one channel and recording another. I had to pull the plug to reset it as none of the buttons on the remote would respond. When it powered back up the hard drive was empty. Yes, completely empty! Everything I had kept ready to transfer to dvd but never got round to, gone.

Anyone else had this? Can't say I have seen any mention of it on this forum. Does anyone know if the contents can be restored?

I think we've reached a stalemate now - the TUCTH100 lovers and haters have got bored of taunting each other And since there are no new updates to talk about, maybe everything that can be said has been said!

I don't think I've heard of that happening to a TUCTH100 before, so I suspect you have been very unlucky and you have my sympathy. The nearest I came to that was when I discovered a secret code on a universal remote that reset everything COMPLETELY and lost the recorded programs. But that was my fault for messing

I was hopeful of an update when I saw a provisional (normally implying a new update) appear on the DTG website earlier this Week, but it has now changed to a repeat for idtvs etc.

Cannot remember anyone reporting a total loss before.

Hi.

Just spoken to a technician at Cardiff who has confirmed he also hasn't heard of a total wipe of the drive contents!

He did say however that they are still hoping to have another software update soon but could not offer any further info on dates or what exactly it would cure.

He did say it should cure the current known problems including the lock ups and missed recordings. I am sorry I have no more info than that, so lets all wait and see .... Again!

I lost about 10 hours of stuff, but I know it's my own fault for not transferring it all to disc. We all learn the hard way.

It is pleasing to hear that they are still working on an update (we've heard it before though), I thought Panasonic had abandoned us long ago, and just hoped we would all dissappear

I saw that as well, but I couldn't face posting in case it started the debate all over again.......

Hi
You would think that Panasonic will try to get this right as a basis for the next model .
We’ve had our TUCTH100 2 months now it works well with the E85H but the volume control on the remote doesn’t work .I don’t know whether to live with the problem or contact Martin Dawes.Chris

Are you sure you have pressed the TV/PVR button before using the volume control?

Sorry for stating the obvious, but you do realise that the volume control is not designed to work with the TUCTH100, but with a Panasonic TV?

And the Humax.

And can we watch the channel we're viewing whilst in the TV guide and can we have ..... Who wants to start a list? Not that we'll ever see any of it, but it doesn't hurt to dream.

Well after his performance yesterday, I don't think we will be dreaming for too long.

After my post last week about the wiping of my drive contents after a lock up, I am still having problems.

Quite frequently now there is picture break-up and sound drop-out on most recordings. It is becoming so much of a pain that recorded programmes are becoming unwatchable. It is has also begun missing timer recordings totally when left in standby. Seems to be ok when box is left on though.

I am trying to gather as much info as possible now and intend to even transfer these duff recordings to dvd so that I can send it in to the boffins at Panasonic who tell me there is no known problem with the box, just the software. Sorry to say it is getting to the stage where if it cannot be improved and reliable it will have to go!

I am aware that most different makes of pvr also have their issues but think I will have to jump ship soon.

Is anyone else having problems lately? Just to recap, until the 11th October mine was perfectly acceptable. Then, I had a lock-up whilst watching and recording two different programmes. Box was unplugged from the mains and when it re-booted the hard drive was empty! Since then, constant daily problems as detailed above.

I strongly suspect you've got a hardware fault. I'd get what you can off to DVD and send it for repair, to be honest.

Yep, the boy done good.

Yes I am, but I've gotten fed up of complaining about them Last night I left my box on and did a manual record for the last 90mins of Prime Suspect on ITV1 and I also had a recording set for the F1 highlights on ITV1. Toddled off to bed and it was happily recording PS ....... came down this morning and happened to notice the recording icon in the display flashing. Switched TV on to find the box had froze, so switched off at mains and back on. No Prime Suspect or F1 in the recordings list. I too was having problems on a daily basis a few weeks ago but its calmed down a bit now but it's still a big pain in the ass

Mine's definitely going back, just as soon as I can edit and archive the recordings I want to keep, trouble is I've got 25hrs of stuff to do Trouble is I do a bit and then a few days pass and there's more stuff on there to do Should be a bit easier now the F1 seasons over though, I hope. I think I might have to buy another box though and then gradually archive off the Panny till its empty.

... mine, in the past 6 weeks or so, has been locking up too frequently for my liking, however, I know when it's about to do so as the fan remains on... I simply soft (from standby rather than unplug) switch on and off and it "PANASONIC" reboots! It is rather frustating as since the 0.57 update in February it had become very reliable... I too think there is now a hardware problem, and if the option for warranty repair until February 2007 still applies, I may take up the option up after Christmas... shame I have I got used to the seamless archiving with the briliant EZ25...

Mine was doing that a lot a couple of months ago. It's back to normal now.

In an attempt to do something constructive I've created a new thread for the purpose of gathering all the known issues in one place. Please post once only on this thread with the faults that you experience with v.057 software. Hopefully as a group we can get Panasonic to take notice.

Another lock up tonight whilst manual recording again. This time I was doing a timer recording and then a manual recording at the same time.

I've just left it in standby and keeping my fingers crossed it will catch the re-run of the F1 highlights tonight on ITV4

Nice one Crocodile, that's a great idea. I'll get round to posting something on it tomorrow.

Not sure if anyone is still viewing this thread but..........

I have owned a tucth100 for about 20 months now and apart from all the usual problems (experienced by most of us) it has been a relatively good machine.

The week before Christmas I had it swapped by Panasonic because of a fault which made playback unwatchable. Every five minutes or so it would lose sound, and picture would go into extremely slow motion for approx 30 seconds at a time.

New box arrived last Thursday but lasted only until Christmas day when it too died on me. This time it was no display and unably to wake it from standby. Power to it ok, plenty of audible disk activity but nothing else. What a useles piece of kit this is turning into.

Let's see what Panasonic have to say tomorrow!

Sorry to hear about your problems. At least there seems to be b*gg*r all to record at the moment...

It's a bit disturbing to hear about these failures. Ah well, at least I get to have the 500th post on this glorious thread
