Doe anyone know to what extent UKTV GOLD edit the classic Dr Who stories they show (either for content or to make way for commercials), or are they shown uncut??

Uncut. The commercial breaks mainly come at the ends of episodes which means there is a shore reprise after each break.
Forgot to record The Silurians.
Got Ambassadors today and series link failed to add Inferno(which is out in May anyway) so I have added Terror of The Autons for next Sunday.
The sound on episode 5 of AOD seemed worse this time around.
I assume the reason the episode captions were kept in today is simply laziness on the part of UK Gold.
I bet the Silurians did not have episode number captions.
Was it in colour?
The only way to get the BBC to start speeding up the Pertwee releases is to put these omnibus versions to dvd.
I will rely on Sods law.

The bit of The Silurians I saw on UK Gold was in very lurid colour. The blisters on Peter Miles's face looked like that had been coloured in with felt tip pen.

Was any of the Ambassadors on Sunday in colour? Because ive read elsewhere that 90 mins are available in colour and was wondering if UKGold had thise 90 mins to broadcast?

Great news Auton fans, Terror will be the recolourised version, albeit the 1992 version made for BBC Video instead of the 1999 version made for the aborted BBC2 repeats. I do wonder however about the Daemons (which will be shown on the 19th March).

However, the DVD out in May will include this extra scene seperate from the main feature, which of course should be identical to the 1970 broadcast.
They will also be showing Frontier in Space on 15th April (although scenes in the last half hour with the Daleks in are likely to be edited out).

Knowing UK Gold they will probably stick with the older 'as originally transmitted' prints, unless they have changed them since the last time they showed the Pertwee era (in 2003).
I mentioned the Pertwee era with "genesis" specifically in mind,as it is a good story.
I actually like "Day of The daleks" but IIRC that typically not written by Nation.

UK Gold won't show Hartnell or Troughton as they are all black and white.
We should think ourselves lucky they are showing the Pertwee stories that only exist on B&W as their policy appears to follow most channels in not showing any B&W material.
They rarely make exceptions to this.

As the 7 parters have not been edited,its unlikely they would edit it(Claws) for any reason.

I've been really enjoying these old gems. In fact I was only commenting a few months ago on a who forum about UKTV Golds lack of anything pre-Davison and then they land this on our laps. Well done UKTV Gold.
With regard the b/w stuff - I did find a couple of video tapes in my garage a few weeks ago that had The Chase and Time Meddler on them, taped from the early days of UK Gold (with a great advert on the "new" channel UK Horizons, and how to tune your box to the new frequency!)
The sound on The Chase had almost gone, but Time Meddler is in pretty good shape. T'was nice to re-watch them again and preserve them on DVD.
Oh and out of intrest, The Chase DID feature the Beatles scene!

it cut from a scene with jon pertwee doing something to a computer, to jo, then back to jon excpet this time he was fighting off axons. there seemed to be a scene missing where they actually came in the room! it was quite obvious something had been chopped out
i hate the way they but just as the end title music comes in with the cliffhangers
I would not think UK Gold edited it as they have no reason too,but they may well have received an edited version.
I still retain all the old Hartnell episodes on tape but certainly won't be wasting dvd's on them as I find them slow and mostly boring.

I wouldn't hold your breath - I think every showing in the past has been a mix of B&W and colour (for reasons best known to UKTV Gold!)
Its been 13 or 14 years since the colourised Daemons came out on VHS so UK Gold have no reason to mess about still.

No surprises here - it's exactly the way they have shown it every other time. I have no idea why they don't have the colourised versions of episodes 1 - 3 but obviously they don't and it would cost them to get a hold of them.
