In 1998, 2000, 2002 and 2003 they showed this strange mix of the old telerecordings and colour restorations that are (by now) 15 years out of date.
Typical UKTV Gold for not bothering to replace their prints for the last ten or so years. Lets hope that another channel picks up the Pertwees (so they can show it 'as intended').

Was there something missing from the advert break of E2 - 3?
The Daemon creeps towards the bunker with the Doc and Jo in, cut to the Master laughing, then the advert break. When we come back, the Daemon is hissing at the doc and being driven back, and the Doc says "See!" or something....

Yes. Bok's attack on the Doctor and Jo was practically edited out!

Remember that the clocks go forward tonight, so if you want to see 'The Sea Devils' tomorrow, get up an hour earlier or fall asleep during the middle of the day [during the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony is a good time to do so] after seeing it
In addition, it will be interesting to see to what extent the upcoming broadcast of 'Frontier in Space' will be cut (seeing as I don't have either UKTV Gold or the VHS copy of the story)

Why do you thnk it will be cut? I don't think UKTV Gold actually cuts the episodes (although their editing of the commercial breaks is pretty appalling at times!)

Daleks appear in 'episode six' (or in UKTV Gold terms, the last half-hour). This has caused a headache with some broadcasters (most notably, the run on a Canadian cable TV channel, whose lineup I read through Outpost Gallifrey, skips out both this serial and POTD ).

Can UKGold even show Frontier in Space since it has Daleks in it?

I've been told that they can't show any of the old Dalek episodes, certainly Day of the Daleks has just been missed out of the running order.

Must remember to change the clock on the video before setting it to tape tomorrows story. Not seen the Sea Devils in years.

If it's been scheduled, then I'm 99% sure that it will be shown. They may make some cuts to it though to remove any scenes that contain Daleks.

The first time that you will see Daleks at this rate will be when they get to the Eccleston 'year' (if negotiations are STILL not succesful when/if they get this far in the morning run).

Oh, and if you don't mind watching the serials out of order, it's best to avoid UKTV Gold's showing of The Green Death (scheduled for 16th April) seeing as though BBC4 will be showing it 'properly' next week with a digitally remastered print and sans ads, whereas UKTV Gold will be hauling out an ancient version (their original copy perhaps) that ignores the cliffhangers and probably will have loads of ads...

Its about time The Daemons came out on dvd.
Even without extras a Pertwee 1971 series box set would be a great seller.
BBC,wake up.
Just got the 1971 Autons Radio Times cover and its sad to realise that all those original broadcasts were wiped, and with something like Mind of Evil, most have never seen it in colour-and possibly never will

Do you think? I suspect the DVDs sell so well mainly because of the extras.

While I agree that many borderline buyers will buy thanks to the extras(I bought the Daleks purely on that basis)I think that there are lots of buyers out there who really just want the stories on dvd and if that means no extras so be it.
In the same way all the early Who VHS releases were omnibus as video labels believed people were not after tv series,I think they are making the same mistake that DVD's only sell when laden with extras.
It is true that at the current rate ,the BBC will only be able to release a very small selection of Who on dvd before the inevitable emergence of the next format in 2-3 years,so rather than take 20 years as they did with VHS,get them on the shelves and into the collectors hands, while still continuing with the extras filled special editions.
Not only does it annoy those who want to replace their VHS recordings and never will at the current release rate, its also money waiting to go into the BBC coffers.
A boxset of either 1971 or another classic 70's year would be a surefire hit.
They could at least give it a go.
This piecemeal release scheduling was ok in the days of VHS,but everyone else has woken up to the "complete season" idea.
Not only do the companies get the cash back quickly rather than 2 paltry titles a month, season sets are more attractive to the collector.
Although they can work out expensive,it does not seem to have been a problem for either ITC collectors or Star trek collectors
