Yeh - I see your point. Kind of a cop out ending though - when did the victims of Margaret get a second chance?”

I guess they did that so Annette Badland can return in future stories, though I would rather see less of the Slitheen than more. Somehow think that isn't going to be the case......

Overall: The Web Planet. It may have looked good in it's day, but it drags interminably & the story is just complete & utter tripe.

PT

S04) - no complete PT stories left
S05) - only "Tomb" left & that's not rubbish
S06) The Dominators - Dullsville Central

PD

S07) The Ambassadors Of Death
S08) Colony In Space
S09) The Time Monster
S10) Frontier In Space
S11) The Monster Of Peladon

Overall: The Time Monster. Complete & utter garbage. The mixture of science / witchcraft etc worked well in The Daemons but here the TOMTIT stuff & the stuff in Atlantis just doesn't gel well at all.

TB

S12: Revenge Of The Cybermen
S13: Terror Of The Zygons
S14: The Face Of Evil
S15: The Invasion Of Time
S16: The Pirate Planet
S17: The Horns Of Nimon
S18: Warriors' Gate

Overall: A toss-up between "Nimon" & "Warriors' Gate". Nimon is over the top panto junk & Warriors' Gate in unintelligible rubbish.

PD

S19: Kinda
S20: Snakedance
S21: Planet Of Fire.

Overall: Kinda. I know that there are people who think it fab & the best think since sliced bread but all thes Eastern analogies don't really 'do it' for me I'm afraid.

CB

S22: The Twin Dilemma (yes, I know it was in S21 but I'm lumping it all together)
S23: Mindwarp

Overall: The Twin Dilemma. Urgh! Poor Maurice Denham getting stuck with bilge like this & then having to act opposite The Woodentop twins.

SMc

S24: Paradise Towers
S25: The Greatest Show In The Galaxy
S26: Ghost Light

Overall: Ghost Light. A close run thing between this & "Greatest Show". Both of just too "out of it" for my taste/

The TVM: Less said about that the better &, as many have said, it "doesn't really count" (imo)

Season 1 (new series):

Boom Town I wish I could say nice things about this (particularly after meeting the fab Annette Badland last year) but I found it all incredibly dull & unsatusfying.

Overall (new & old series & not including the TVM) I'll have to go for:-

Ghost Light followed by The Greatest Show In The Galaxy.”

I'm going to to do it in a similar way to Rita's Kabin.

WH

season 1 : The Keys of Marinus
season 2 : The Web Planet
season 3 : The Ark

overall: The Web Planet. I doubt it even looked good in its day, and watching it now is a very painful experience indeed.

PT

season 4 : The Underwater Menace (based on audio and surviving episode)
season 5 : The Wheel in Space (based on audio and surviving episodes)
season 6 : The Dominators

overall: The Dominators. So immensely tedious GPs prescribe it as a cure for insomnia.

JP

season 7 : The Ambassadors of Death
season 8 : Colony in Space
season 9 : The Mutants
season 10 : Planet of the Daleks
season 11 : The Monster of Peladon

overall: The Mutants. How unjust that this complete load of poo survives in the archives when so many classic sixties serials were lost. Watching it insults my eyes and my ears.

TB

season 12 : Revenge of the Cybermen
season 13 : The Android Invasion
season 14 : The Hand of Fear
season 15 : The Invisible Enemy
season 16 : The Armageddon Factor
season 17 : Destiny of the Daleks
season 18 : Meglos

overall: The Invisible Enemy. Whoever read this script and said 'Let's do it...its a great script and we can pull it off on our budget' was a big fat fool.

PD

season 19 : Time-Flight
season 20 : The King's Demons
season 21 : Resurrection of the Daleks

overall: Time-Flight. I take it they only had a fiver left over for the last story of the season. I think they kept the change.

CB

season 21 : The Twin Dilemma
season 22 : The Mark of the Rani
season 23 : The Mysterious Planet

overall: The Twin Dilemma. I remember being sad when Davison regenerated. I remember being even sadder after sitting through this. 'Come back Peter, please....'

SM

season 24 : Time and the Rani
season 25 : Silver Nemesis
season 26 : Battlefield

overall: Time and the Rani. A truly awful start to an awful season. The Rani pretending to be Mel...pass me the shotgun.

The Paul McGann Movie: I don't actually mind it. Its not outstanding, but enjoyable none the less. And it so obviously does count. Even RTD says so.

CE

The Long Game. The only episode of the season that bored me, and the only one I've only watched twice. I dont think I'll bother again.

overall: I can't pick just one as my worst ever story. I have equal contempt for The Mutants, The Invisible Enemy and The Twin Dilemma. They are all hideous, hideous things and I'll cry if you make me look at them.

Oh come on that surreal bit where the bloke gets turned into a tree which can move to save peri from turning into a tree makes mark of... better than attack, if only because it raises the question- what the f*** drugs were the writers of this on?

I quite liked 'Mark of the Rani' and thought it would be in line for a fairly early DVD release.

From what I remember JCR, you despise 'Attack of the Cybermen'. I think it's OK (much better than 'Silver Nemisis' to my mind) and would bet that 'Attack' will be the next CB DVD release, if only to cash in on the return of the cybermen in the next season of the new series.

The main problem I have with attack is it's too continuity heavy for a series aimed at kids, (that's what I loved about the last series, RTD kept it simple). Take the "I'm NOT sarah jane" line- could the kids of '85 remember who sarah jane was? And there are loads of similar examples. But never the less, I have insomnia and a copy of attack 3 feet away from me- been ages since I watched it, it maybe time it has for another day in court.

I feel bad for CB though, I thought he was really good at times, just sort of stuck in really bad stories.

I'm glad Davison left celerysoup, otherwise he'd probably have got stuck with timelash, attack and mark of the rani. And that would not have been good.

I have only watched the new series but I must say the Unquiet Dead. I just didn't enjoy it as much as the others.

The Happiness Patrol was just plain awful, as was Paradise Towers, Greatest Show In The Galaxy, Four to Doomsday, Timelash, Trial Of A Timelord. But for me the first four never had any real turkeys, I think they all have a kind of charm about them.

One word - Timelash.

A truly, truly awful story that was a real 'jump the shark' moment in Dr Who history. Cheap, rubbish plot, nasty sets, awful dialogue, lots of in-jokes, poor acting and dreadful special effects.

When the Doctor saves the day, seemingly by sacrificing his life, and then reappears moments later perfectly safe we aren't even given an explanation as to how he survived.

He just says 'oh, a little trick I learnt. I'll tell you about it later". I remember thinking at the time "well, if the writers can't be bothered to finish a story, why should I bother to watch it?".

I know there were a few stories that were pretty bad from the McCoy era, but Timelash for me was the first Who story that I actually remember thinking was rubbish. After this, I suppose the benchmark always seemed a little lower.

Poor Colin Baker - he deserved so much better than this!

I feel that the Colin Baker episodes are the worst of all, but I couldn't pick one in particular. Then The Christmas Invasion.

If I really have to choose an episode that was my least favourite, it would probably be Boom Town. However, it's not a case of disliking it - I consider it to be my 13th favourite

As someone else on these boards (I think) has pointed out, if you rearrange the letters of 'Timelash' you get 'Lame...' something or other!
