Call disconnected, but phone continues to ring!

Hi

Almost there with my new VOIP setup. My DECT phone rings without the ring capacitor adaptor

Have found doing test calls to my sipgate service that if I call it, the phone rings, but then if I cancel the incoming call from the handset making the call (before answering the incoming call), the destination handset continues to ring out (rather than stopping ringing as you would expect). Has anyone else noticed this kind of thing, or is it my router setup?

Thanks

John

It does happen with VoIP from time to time.

If it does happen all the time, then it could be that some ports may need forwarding.

All the test calls I have cut off so far have continued to ring. What ports am I likely to need to forward and to where?

Thanks

5060 - 5061 UDP
53 UDP
69 UDP
10000 - 20000 UDP
8000 - 8012 BOTH
3478 BOTH

These need forwarding to the IP Address of the the VoIP phones are attached to.

Bextech

Do you mean the port forwarding page on my router setup? I presume so as I can't find any kind of port forwarding within the voice setup on my adapter.

Thanks

Yes, on your router you should be able to forward the required ports over to the voice side.

Yes, X-Lite does work with DTMF tones, you just need to set the program accordingly to provider used.

In advanced settings, DTMF settings, you have the choice whether to force the DTMF tones 'In Band' or not.

Glad to hear you got it working.

My knowledge is my own trial and error, others trial and error and some reading up on the subject.

Excellent - thanks very much

I'm starting to like this Vo/IP thing, Sipgate seems to work a lot better than my old BT Broadband Voice service, just need a telephone adapater now as i sold me ATA 186.

I also am getting this problem now and can't seem to solve it by forwarding the ports.

Using the STUN server: stun.fwdnet.net sorted it for me.

I had the same problem with sipgate where the destination phone continued to ring. I tried everyting with no luck. I have solved it by swapping my belkin router for a linksys one. It now works perfect...

If you have a PAP2 you could try updating to the latest Firmware.
