Absolutely. I`ve never met so many loyal fans since I moved the US. They are very passionate about their EE.
And ditto with the Canadians with their Corrie. Just wish I could watch Corrie over here. Haven`t been able to since CBC Canada went digital and we lost the signal

IF you lost the signal I assume you used a dish to pick up CBC Canada . Is there no way you can move the dish's angle or does the signal not reach WV any more? Im surprided with so many channels in the US A not even one channel carries corrie?

We had a large sat dish to watch Corrie, and 2 years ago CBC went digital and we lost the signal forever. There was uproar over it.
Now that we live in WV we got a smaller digital dish, just wish we could get CBC Canada back. Maybe in a few years technology will advance enough where we will be able to. |

I'll look into satellite details and see what I can find about how CBC is broadcast.
Was it with a subscription package or was it free to pick up? |

Doesn't some US Network somewhere show corrie? Even if it is 10 year old epsiodes, it's better than noting.

You can still pick up CBC but
You would need to shell out aout $320 for a 90 cm dishPARACLIPSE System and decoder box then get a subcription at $15 month for these channels to recieve corrination street (and get a friend in canada to sign you up. http://www.global-cm.net/CAN/StarCho...ssentials.html http://www.global-cm.net/CAN/equip/SC.html http://www.canadatotwincities.com/satellite.html |

15 US Dollars - the site coveted it from Canadian dollars to US dollars.
All the stuff quoted is US $'s. Bear in mind you will have to get a satellite installer to get it mounted up on your house and pointing in the right direction at the satellite to. You will also need a 90cm dish to be on the very safe side of picking up the digital signal is WV. Any thing smaller and you might not be able to pick it up. 90cm is the safest bet with a digital signal! Over here Sky is meant to be only avaliable to people in the UK but many pubs in Southern Spain pick up Sky Sports so it shows how far signals actually are avaliable! The same goes for CBC. It can be picked up as far south as the carribean! |

Oh wow Andy thats amazing.
Do you think in the future that technology will advance so much that the people in the US will be able to get SkyTV? And vice versa with our Starz etc. Apologies if I`ve sent this out before Andy....heres what we get on our DirecTV http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/ProgramGuide |

At the moment an Astra satellite that broadcast Sky Digital to us is 28.2 degrees East of South (I think that is correct) . It is positioned at the same angle as everyones dish and is 36,000KM (23,000 Miles) up in space. At the moment in America that means that the satellite is beyond your Horizon in terms of where it is.
The only way that we could see each others TV is if the height of the satellites was increased to 100,000 KM but (60,000 miles) and they increased the signal stregnth 100 Fold unfortunatly. I only real way people could watch TV from any where would be if it is streamed on the Internet and you could pick it up with a fast cable modembut sites that have tried this and been closed. It is possible to watch American channels in Europe as they are broadcast on the American Forces Network but I would have to buy some very expensive equipment and I don't think the Armed Forces might like me trying! I would love to see Starz over here though - Sky have a litteral control on Premium Sports and Movies and PPV Movies over here. While in America you have Starz,HBO,Showtime,Cine and other movie channels which create more competition for better quality and lower prices , and they show movies earlier than Sky from the Cinema. We don't have Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings on PPV yet due to the monopoly Sky have! The same goes with Sky Sports - ITV set up an ITV Sport Channel but due to the problem of not getting the channel on Sky it went bankrupt with causing huge financial problems with league football! http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/displaye...gory=satellite This is our Channel Line up on Sky. |

Lol
That explains why you wanted to know if Sky would be one day avalaible in the USA! I'll have to look again, but when I dug up that information on you getting CBC so you can watch corination street I think the channel did have some british programmes like those on UK Gold and Granada Plus and there is also a BBC Canada too. I'll get back to you. |
