Westlife anger over Shayne
Westlife are furious at what they perceive as Walsh's failure to actively promote the group, since he took on the management of X-Factor winner Shayne Ward.
The final straw came at last weekends's childline charity event at Dublin's point, where both Westlife and Shayne were on the same bill. While 21-year-old Shayne had the capscity audience pleading for more, Westlife earned just a lukewarm applause. Nicky and Mark kept their anger and frustration to themselves, until a meeting with Louis early last week. "Louis thought he might even get the band's congratulations for keeping them on top in 2005," says my source. "Instead, he faced a mutiny. Nicky, (who was supported by Mark) laid into Walsh, and even threatened to quit the group, leaving Louis shaken. But, he recovered quickly". "Louis reassured the boys that he was not giving up on them, and would assiduously promote them. He told them that, in a very fickle industry, they had at least 2 more years at the top. It seemed to placate them". The Mirror |

What are they complaining for!
They had two of last years biggest hits. They won record of the year. I see no reason for them being angry. |

Another newspaper, I think it was The Sun, ran a very similar article a couple of months ago which Louis went on Tv and said was rubbish. So I doubt this very much.

I think they maybe running out of covers to do and therefore are starting to get all of a panic. Lets be honest they are on the way out and so they need to ensure they go out on the back of an argument about something to keep themselves in the papers for a little while longer.

That "story" sounds like a whole load of rubbish to me. The newspapers write some total you-know-what at times!

At least Boyzone knew when they where starting to look silly! Move over Westlife; we need some new tasty meat, not some old scrag-end! |

I don`t think that story is true - it`s just all publicity stuff manufactured in time for the X-Factor tour.

Why would they want to go out on an argument? They have a tour to go on this year, maybe they'll bow out on the back of a successful tour. |

These days on DS you can never tell if people are taking the piss or genuinelly believe some of the stuff they type!I'll be honest with you, I do like westlife, I dont think they have ever had pretensions of being a 'serious' band, they are just 4 relatively good looking guys that can carry a tune.(McFatten doesnt count, I'm sure he regrets leavig them now!) I'd guess that they are basically told what to do, and as long as the cash flows they wont really care what they are singing. As you say, fans will buy there stuff no matter what. I do agree they dont have a long shelf life though. Still if they bow out after this tour then fair play to them-they must get bored with the white suits and standing up with the key change. Bland pop-just how I like it! |

Basically anybody can do that as long as they have a voice on them. |

Are we talking about pond life here? Still am sure they couldn't care less in fact they will be laughing all theway to the bank. Not many boy bands stay at the top for what 4- 5 yrs and even stay on top after losing a member. Not my cup of tea but they must have something or why else would they be so popular after all this time

Okay it is 7 years that they have been around, and OLD what are you on about tell me daughter that aged 24 she is WL nuts and so are alot of her mates, they dont have the 13 year olds by the ship load anymore you see those 13 year olds are now 20 they grew up with them and they stayed with them, that is why they are so huge. The are the biggest selling boyband in Europe and I think they are still that in Asia as well.
AND PLEASE is Amazing a Cover, was Flying Without Wings a Cover.. get real I get so pissed off reading this crap, they have done covers but not all thier singles have been covers and one they wrote themselves managed to get top 5.. you dont like them fine, give me them anyday over Shayne. Myabe you aint been on any tours then with them in ripped jeans and t shirts... and they talk about Shayne bashers I have not seen any in here but by god I keep reading about a band that has been hugely successful only singing covers, maybe if you got your facts right it would not make me so mad, if you dont like them I am sure they wont miss you! but don't quote lies.. as for the story more CRAPP.. they had a single out Monday it is hype from LW as ususal I expect he is a master at it,, look at the Shayne stories all 4 or 5 of them.. well he has to keep people remembering his name so just stick crapp in the press.. GG Firstly I was sure that the new Westlife track was out on the 20th and not Monday just gone? Perhaps instead of telling me to check my facts you might want to spend a little time checking yours? Glad to see that their "fans"are so into them and keeping their fingers on the pulse when it comes to their release dates!!! Secondly i dont quote lies, i state facts. Westlife are a band that cannot survive without covering old classics. True that isnt all they have done, they have done original tunes. Work out their originals against their covers and you will see that the covers far outdo the originals. As for them being the biggest selling boyband in Europe, does anyone happen to have a link to this "fact" What sort of a time scale are you talking about as it is a bit of a sweeping statement. You also say they are big in Asia, well done!! Its not the hardest of markets to crack. Whigfield, Shampoo and Zig and Zag are just a few who have also cracked that hard nut in the past. I was making a statement that i dont agree that Westlife are the greatest band ever to have graced us with their presence as some people think. If you found 4 blokes who could sing then you could make the next Westlife. |

On the release date I apologise.. but as I have more to do than check my daughter had that wrong bless her.. she was so waiting to buy it..
Biggest boyband.. remember I said BOYBAND in Europe who would you nominate BUSTED.. or MCFLY.. it is a fact and I will go find my source and NO it is not Louis Walsh.. and come back with it.. tomorrow too late now.. AND no I was not having a go at you all the other people around here who seem to think WL are crap.. HAVE you ever seen them LIVE.. sing live.. perform live.. NO.. did not think so.. I never said they were the greatest band .. I reserve that for Queen, Bon Jovi and the Beatles.. but boyband yes they are the longest... and best I have seen live and some of their songs have been outstanding.. Flying Without Wings.. for a start.. they fought with SC over Mandy.. remember here I am a fan .. and they lost.. but he as per usual was right another hit.. one of their biggest hits would have been a track pre given to fans before the album.. oh yes and that SC bloke stepped in again ... and it became the fastest selling debut single of all time.. have you heard of him.. WILL YOUNG.. Evergreen was actaully written for Westlife.. just though you may like to know that.. Oh and find four blokes who can sing.. dont need to I have four they are called.. Shane, Mark, Kian and Nicky aka Westlife.. they are not rock they are pop and I am a rock chick but I love them..so what.. is that a sin.. |

I saw on Sky this morning that their new song "Amazing" is completely different to previous recent releases as it is a) not a ballad and b) not a cover! Actually I quite like it. The last single and the one before it were dreadful. Quote:

And Gareth Gates!

You stated that they are the biggest selling boyband in Europe and you also believe that is the case in Asia as well. I dont agree with you and that why i asked you to link me to the source. It again was not a dig at you, just asking. You stated that i quote lies, i think in this case you have just stated your opinion rather than fact. I know that Evergreen was written for Westlife, did it not appear on one of their albums at some point or something like that? So what? The point of that argument was what? Evergreen wasnt released by Westlife, it was released by Will Young. I dont really know what you want me to do with that other than congratulate you for knowing they had the tune first. I didnt say to be a fan of Westlife was a sin, everybody has freedom of choice and freedom of speech and musical taste is always going to be a heated debate. You probably wont like bands or genres of music i am into, its no big deal. |
