Mine was Soulwax and it blew me away (and I lost about 2 pints of water in sweat)
Since then I have been to see: Starsailor Ash Proud Mary (won't bother again) Toploader V2002 Oasis @ Shepards Bush Emire Coldplay in October Manic Street Preachers in December |

Mine was Travis, supported by Doves.. I really enjoyed it at the time.. Since then however I've been to Glastonbury which was truly amazing. I enjoyed watching Doves there so much more.

Beatles, Cillla Black, Fourmost, and a couple of other Mersey bands at the Finsbury Park Astoria, circa 1963. Enjoyed the experience except for the screaming girls in the audience.

Iron Maiden at Wakefield Unity Hall in 1980 just after the release of the debut album.
We were in the pub just around the corner from the hall before the gig and saw Steve Harris and Di'anno at the bar! |

The Cramps - Sheffield Octagon, 1984. A great gig, except on the way back to my mates house he managed to throw up in the back seat of the car.

Ive been a music fan for ages but only started going to gigs last year!
My first show was The Eagles at Earls Court in June 2001, then I saw U2 four times within one week in August, three times at Earls Court (sleeping outside with a load of friends ) and again at the first Slane Castle gig (along with JJ72, Coldplay and the Red Hot Chili Peppers). That gig in particular was totally awesome. I also saw Feeder and the Stereophonics at Wembley in December last year, only a few weeks before Feeder drummer Jon Lee killed himself ![]() I havent seen anyone this year. I would have gone to see the Chili Peppers again but they only did one show in London and it sold out.. besides.. Im saving up to buy a house these days so thats more important. Dan |

My first gig was Iron Maiden when they were doing the Seventh Son Tour. I got to see them at Whitley Bay Ice Rink. It's a small place, but the atmosphere was great. Since then I've seen Iron Maiden At Newcastle City Hall (No Prayer for the Dying Tour), Def Leppard at Telewest Area (Slang Tour) and Def Leppard at Sheffield Arena (Europhia Tour).

I tell you what, there are some great shows there chaps. One gig I would have loved to have gone to was a show one of my old work mates went to.. it was a Van Halen show in 1984.. aparently all that was on the stage was the drum kit, guitars, mics, and just a massive, massive wall of amps and speakers.. I would have just loved to see that show, with DLR there at there nearly at his end of his VH stint..

Prince - Lovesexy at Wembley in 1988 - absolutely fantastic show, and at a time when his entire back catalogue was the dogs bollocks.
Last was Glastonbury, and next is Coldplay/Idlewild in October. Iain |

originally by Dan Vitae. Yes it was the These Days Tour in 95. You would have liked the tour it was a excellent day out and I even appeared on the local news as well, when they did a piece on it. Extremely sunburnt.
Was that during the These Days '95 tour? I had a few friends who saw them and VH play Wembley Stadium during that tour and I really wished that I saw them. VH had just release their Balance album also so they were on a high also..[/ |

First gig I ever saw was The Kids From Fame live - how embarrasing ! First proper gig I went to was Public Enemy and LL Cool J at the Brighton Centre in 1986. I like small venues myself - Brixton Academy is pretty good. |

My first ever gig was Depeche Mode in St Davids Hall, Cardiff just after Everything Counts came out - around 1984/5 I think.
I remember it well because it was also my first ever date. I had nervously asked a girl from my class who was also a DM fan to go with me, and was amazed when she said yes. The evening started well, we both enjoyed the support act and an illegal beer during the interval, and just as I was thinking I was onto a good thing, the Mode came on, she got out of her seat, ran screaming down to the front of the stage and I didn't see her again all night! Even though the date was a disaster, the gig was brilliant, and I've been a fan of Depeche Mode ever since! This would never happen now, because St Davids Hall now employ security staff at their gigs who stand in front of the stage and send anyone who dares to go near back to their seats! |

1980. The Scorpions at Newcastle City Hall on the Lovedrive Tour. It was really strange because I think the trip was organised thru school. (Must have been cheap tickets going or sumething)
We had hardly heard of them, but knew they were heavy & spent that day listening to the album. At the gig the grand special effect was when two tacky claws emerged from the drum riser. afaik at the time the charts were nothing but crap disco and the "New Wave Of British Heavy Metal"*. God, what a choice ![]() * The Scorpions were German |
