I know it isn't the end of the world in the grand scheme of things. As I have said I have nothing against cameos..for example Andrew Marr appearing in the news bulletin in AOL/WW3 seemed entirely appropriate given he is a journalist and it gives the show a more realistic feel. What concerns me is when celebs are shoe horned into a story, even if it is just for a few minutes, just because someone thinks it might be funny. I was a bit worried when I heard about the Big Brother/Weakest Link scenario but it did work and I was forced to eat my words..perhaps I will do the same with these particular episodes.

Didn't work for me. Thought it was awful. The Big Brother / Weakest Link / Trinny & Suethingy - just made me cringe - worst episode for me after anything with a Slitheen in it, and one I will not sit through again. The acting of the Big Brother housemates was particularly poor.

Not against cameos entirely. Reckon they can sometimes work - particularly if they're not given any part of the plot. It's just that the people/shows selected for cameos on Dr. Who are already some of the worst things on TV - including them in Dr. Who just spoils the show for me. What are the makers thinking? That suddenly, they'll shine? As they say, you can't polish a turd.

Acorah has actually filmed a couple of scenes for the new series (and it is no more than a cameo everyone will be pleased to know - anyone who's ever seen "Most Haunted" will know what a poor actor he is!)

Please don't tell me that..I thought the trances he went into were for real.

Hmm - time will tell but I'm inclined to think that including him and Trisha will not turn out to be a good idea.

Using Andrew Marr in AOL/WW3 worked as he is a journalist/news reporter so it gave it more of a realistic edge. They just about got away with using Davina and co in BW/POTW but as you say using Accorah and Trisha might be one step too far.

I don't see how you can say they 'just about got away with it' for BW/POTW. It made sense within the context of the story - plus it gave both the viewer and Rose a hook to 21st century life. Something which gave the 'reboot' of Who a lot of relevance and, amost certainly, contributed to its popularity/ratings.

Perhaps we should actually wait and see what happens on screen before criticising?

Think I said in an earlier post that I will wait and see as it might turn out ok. I was just voicing a concern that a pattern is emerging with the engagement of Accorah and Trisha in series two.

All rumour and gossip- that one was from the daily star methinks. Although multiple sources are saying episode 11 is about the 2012 olympics, which would certainly leave open the possibility of a sports star cameo.

The OG boards again- it's been around for a while, but was in the legit set report that bbc legal took offence at this morning, so I would now guess that ones true too.

What else was mentioned then JCR as all sounds rather dramatic and I can't understand why mentioning the story was set/based at the time of the 2012 Olympics would upset the Beeb so much. Even when a story is true they refuse to comment.

Basically a man called Michael Livsey got given a set tour yesterday, and promptly wrote up his visit on the OG boards. BBC legal calls the OG this morning and thread removed. I didn't save a copy of it, so can only tell you about it in broad terms. Quite strange really, if he signed a legal document saying he wouldn't talk, why did he? If he didn't, why not? But The beeb did get lawyers in so you'd have to assume it's legit.

Ironically, there was not that many spoilers in there. Mild spoilers I'd say in fact.

Spoiler
Described a couple of scenes from idiots lantern: set at the time of the queens coronation, the dr/rose barge into some guys house using psychic paper then there's a scene where something is banging on a ceiling I believe. Described a more run down cassandra prop. Said he read the 1st couple of pages of the satan pit and it involves drilling or boreing of some type. Mentioned the olympics. Said the cyberman set was a vivid mix of blue/silver colour. The big one: said some props in there were dusty and some not. The pepperpots weren't and one of the 4 of 'em has been repainted black.

I've read the full report is floating around on several websites and rec arts dr who newsgroup, so it shouldn't be too hard to find if you want to look.

Interesting - would that be the one replacing the bumped Stephen Fry episode? That would make some sense because it would be the last script delivered - well after we knew the result of the Olympic bid.

It is indeed in the newsgroup that was mentioned by JCR if anyone wants a look.

You need to use a reader such as Grabit and it is under the section posted (rec.arts.drwho) - I would download the article and post it but I'm allergic to lawsuits.

Still, it's there if people want to read it.

Just heard from someone else about what happened and it does appear to be true..shame on them for not making the person sign a confidentiality agreement.

Isn't there anyone out there who can give us the article? Either a link to (which doesnt involve downloads, some of us are at work!) or a post of?

I think if anybody posted the article the thread would be deleted - at the very least.

If you really want to read it I suggest you use a computer other than your work one and follow the post above.

It's fair to say that if any other websites have published the text they will also have had to remove it for the same reason as OG.
