Setup problems Grandstream 102
James Clayton

Hopefully someone can help with my setup problems.

I bought this phone from voiptalk.org and used their online setup tool to auto setup the phone settings.

When I go to the setup page for the phone and enter the new sipdiscount settings it seems to be still connected to voiptalk.

I'm clicking update, then rebooting the phone, but the settings are not updating. When I point my browser back at the settings most of the fields are blank except the user / pass which are for voiptalk.

This is what I am being asked for:

Admin Password: (purposely not displayed for security protection)
SIP Server: (e.g., sip.mycompany.com, or IP address)
Outbound Proxy: (e.g., proxy.myprovider.com, or IP address, if any)
SIP User ID: (the user part of an SIP address)
Authenticate ID: (can be identical to or different from SIP User ID)
Authenticate Password: (purposely not displayed for security protection)
Name: (optional, e.g., John Doe)

So annoying I've spent 3 hours trying to sort it, voiptalk phone support can't help and I'm thinking of sending it back and getting a different phone, saying it's faulty / wont set up.

It'll be downloading a config file from Voiptalk on boot, thus overwriting whatever changes you make. Disabling the TFTP option should fix it.

AHA ! Thanks, I got so bloody annoyed with it I have sent it back and gone for a wifi one instead. I kindof like the idea of being able to use is whereever there is a hotspot and being able to walk around the house.

The main reason for sending it back is the voiptalk people were useless, I got put through to technical support and spoke to 'ahmed' on the worst voip line I've ever heard, echo was bad, he was so quiet I couldn't hear what he was saying. Not a great advert for a voip company. They didn't have a clue. Something rattled inside the phone and for the 1st 30 minutes the display was only displaying 1/2 of the charators!!
