I hear there was a next time screen tonight?

I missed it - drat. Was it like what they do on The Bill?

Yeah it was just the same really..

That's weird... how did they manage it, because The Bill's theme tune lets it work, I can't imagine it with Emmerdale's?

It didn't really work imo.. your right about it not working with the theme tune. Its not quite as 'action packed' as thebill's

So did it do the usual Emmerdale "whoosh" then stop before the first bar of the song came in to play a clip with no backing track then carry on with the theme, or play a long version of the theme over the Next Time clip and then the credits, or not bother with the "whoosh" until the end of the Next Time clip?

I sound stupid and lame and probably make no sense lol but I'm curious

It just started showing the credits as normal and then split into two screens... the ITV coming up on the left and the credits on the right... it lowered the theme tune down a bit to allow a series of video clips to play. then went back to normal near the end hehe.

Oh right lol so it was basically like a normal promotion at the end of a show on the credits?

Cheers

It was a mini screen as the credits rolled if I remember rightly.

It was nice to see a clip of the next episode.

I preferred it to the old promotion of something else, forced over the credits, it seemed natural.

I think that this sort of thing looks cheap and tacky, it only really works on programmes like 'The Bill' and 'Bad Girls'.

Just wondering did they do it again tonight?

I keep missing Emmerdale lately

I wonder why they didn't do it on Corrie...

Maybe it's just because of the wedding, though they aren't showing the best clips from the episode.

True - Although they are showing the funny clips.
I think it's because of the wedding aswell - and the clash between EastEnders.

Maybe it's because figures haven't been their best lately, although I don't know how this helps. Just a theory. I don't think it looked tacky at all, fitted in nicely, between the two yellow bars. Can't see too many shows doing it this way though, because it would mean ITV abandoning advertising what's coming up next.

Wonder if it's permenant, or maybe my theory is wrong, and like Drifter said, it's just being used for the build up to the wedding, I mean, the clips used have only included Viv.

I was out tonight and missed it - was it shown tonight after the wedding ended?

No,i think they just did it to build up the wedding and beat EE.

Now,they don't care.

I no longer watch Emmerdale, but saw this "next time" thing when I was visiting my family the other night - personally I don't like it - to me it's (typical ITV) cheap and tacky and desperate.

Brookside started to do this if I remember right before it was shot dead...

All I want from end credits is to see the names (in full screen) and to hear the theme - if I want to see what happens nex time I'll watch it next time - not see abit before and spoil it for myself (even though the papers/magazines and the net will do that for me)

Hope EastEnders never do anything like this!

To be fair nothing was going to save Brookie when it was introduce, you can hardly say it's the reason for its demise

I can't see the BBC being that tacky and desperate.

Like they are on nearly all of their series dramas, Holby and Casualty excluded?

Just because they don't do it on EastEnders? Do you watch many BBC shows?
