Corrie: Is it a publicity stunt?
I can't help but feel this whole Moors thing is one big publicity stunt?
I really hope not but all the evidence points to that fact. How on earth did each detail get revealed to the press and why at this moment in time? All sounds very suspicious but maybe its only me as I don't feel they would this low. |

If it is it is a sick stunt. I'm glad I don't watch it.

So, you think Coronation Street wanted to give themselves bad publicity? Right, I see...no, actually I don't.
The plot details were revealed, because that's what the soaps do, they release pictures and plot details to the papers and magazines to give viewers a sneak peek of what's coming up. The pictures were released last week, as I remember The Sun had already printed them in a TV Column. Then yesterday, they decided to make a big deal out of nothing, it was The Sun that orchestrated it, nobody else. |

Why did the choose this location, why was it all revealed to the press, why be so controversial about it? They must have known this would happen. Too many questions need to be answered. |

thats exactly what i thought. origionally the story was sally forced rosie in the car took her for a drive to the moors and perpously crashed the car to teach her a lesson, no it seems, now people have created a fuss about the dignaty and respect to victims it seems the real story is somthing on the lines of sally is taking rosie to bording school when the car breaks down, or if they do crash its purely accidental.
the whole things smacks of publicity. what is with corrie and crashes at the moment? sally and rosie in the car, leanne in the car, tyrone and his burgar van and the soon train/tram crash??

I'm more worried about Tyrone and Molly driving into the lake in that chip van that was on fire. It gives the impression that you should put water on a chip pan fire, it's fatal really, no wonder the death rate by chip pan fire is increasing when we have Corrie setting us this example.

thats what i thought, if you were driving along and realised your vehicle was on fire would you -
a - jump out immediatly and call the fire brigade b - drive to the nearest lake and dump it in there? |

My boss did say he thought it was a publicity stunt and reading some of the comments he could be right.

Sorry, can't agree. It would never have occured to me, and I dare say any number of other viewers, to even think of the Myra Hindley/moors murders link. I am an "older" viewer and if it didn't occur to me, what chance has it of occuring to younger viewers who were not around either then? Even allowing for the numerous occasions it has been in the press since, (most recently a couple of years ago when Myra Hindley died) would the association be made? I don't personally think so. Just my opinion.

Of course it's publicity lol. All publicity is good publicity as they say. Coronation Street is a commercial programme that needs ratings to stay on a float.
So this is just perfect. No matter how macabre it sounds. |

It is rather sick if it is a publicity stunt. But on a lighter note its a pity car crash doesn't see the end of Sally.

I sincerely doubt it is a publicity stunt, but then you never know. I can't begin to imagine how terrible the families must feel, but I do think that it is a bit of an overreaction. They can't 'not film' on the site of a tragedy, can they? Unless of course it is deliberate.

just because they filmed on those specific moors doesn't mean thats where they will represent on screen.
just because there was an incident there years ago doesn't mean the place should be fenced off and never used again. |
