She might offer to sell Amy to the Croppers again just so that she can move in with Charlie - just the kind of thing she would do

I thought Rita was going to have a nervous breakdown? she seemed pretty normal today, or was that it what happened last week?

Great scenes today with Emily. Her chats with Rita, Deirdre & Eileen made the episode for me.

I also liked that Betty was given a few lines today, such a fabulous character shouldn't be shunned into the background.

That's about all that interested me, nothing else is worth mentioning.

Another very strong episode tonight, primarily because of Emily and Eileen. I hope Corrie continue to use the stronger actors as they are at present. I am not missing the Battersbys at all.

I can't wait for the Barlows reactions to Tracy dumping Amy on them.

I alsowonder how Eileen is going to cope with the issue of Ed.

Poor Emily. All that church attendance and charity work will count for nothing if she is unable to forgive Ed.

Nice to see the lovely Claire again.

A nice Battesrby free episode. Looks like Tyronne is going to get away with abandoning his van in the middle of the park pool.

Another super episode tonight with more good work by Sue Cleaver and Eileen Derbyshire. I find these two characters two of the most believable, realistic and LIKEABLE residents on the street - a combination of good writing and excellent acting - and it is good to see them get their own storyline after months of more or less sitting on the sidelines. I actually care about these two, which is more than can be said for SO many others. And what a pleasure to have a well-written, fully thought-out and GROWN-UP storyline that is intelligent, character-driven and raises interesting ideas in a soap that has relied very heavily in recent years in sensationalism rather than realism. This, together with the Mike Baldwin storyline - again, focusing on a more mature, long-standing character - bodes well for Corrie in 2006.

Mind you, I still think getting rid of Susie Blake (again) is a mistake. There are others far more deserving of the chop....

Must say I agree she was very good tonight

I thought I saw the van with bits of greenery on it outside the garage, after the event? I may be wrong though

When she was stood in the taxi office casually nibbling on her glasses she looked quite pretty.
Can't remember the last time I saw her without them on.

Only caught the 2nd half tonight, but enjoyed it - except for Tracy/Charleh canoodling on the settee (yuck)

True, can't Fred sit on them so that she may look very beautiful again?

She's lovely anyway but I just think she looks better without. Just covering myself in case SULLA reads this ...

Is it just me or did Betty say 'I've been molested in cafes many a time' or something like that? I wasn't really paying attention!

She did, she did! I thought it was just me! She said 'I've been molested in cafes many times, they're no safer than anywhere else.' That's a bit of an odd comment to say the least.

That was just weird anyway. With Steve and Claire, he was acting a bit odd. Then in comes Betty with that comment. Somebody must have put something in the writers’ coffee that day.

You know what's annoying me about Corrie is how they're thinking up major stories and then dashing them off and not properly developing them. I mean it was only a few days ago Rita was a quivering wreck because of her attack and now she's fully recovered and is helping console Emily.

A well constructed thread there Office Joyce Barry

Talking about Bev, I do think she is right for the chop as Fred & Shelley are leaving this year so there wouldn't be any connection for her to stay. However, I agree there more deserving characters for the chop

I wish Bev wasn't leaving, I love watching her. I would rather see Les Battersby or Nathan leave than Bev.

Also I loved the way, in the cab office she was looking at Steve as he was winding her up to believe he had sent the second card, she wasn't sure was she?

I really liked that whole scene, and Betty's random comment cracked me up. Excellent episode, apart from Roy's mate Clifford, he makes me want to throw things at the tv - please someone tell me he isn't going to be about much longer.

For someone of Betty's era, I suspect she was referring to her bottom being pinched.

I thought the episode was great. Corrie is consistently good, with well grounded, believable stories. I know we get a bit of messing around with Molly/Tyrone and Roy/Hayley with the van and train stuff, but it does make some light relief. Roy and Hayley (who are fantastic characters) have had their serious stories too.

Tracey has proved she's just as nasty as ever. It has been obvious from the beginning that she doesn't want Amy and has just used her. I think she only turned on the Croppers and kept her because she had broken the law, only their good nature saved her. I think the story with Tracey and Charlie is interesting, she is a different personality than Shelley, so I'm waiting to see how things will turn out.

Emily and Eileen were great, along with good support from Rita and Norris (Easter egg order my foot, , an update more like). Rita seems better this week, after her ordeal with Stacey, but we saw a good scene to prove she hasn't quite got over it yet.

Brilliant writing.

The ghost of Ernest Bishop has been very much part of Corrie since his 1978 demise and obviously it has played a major role in who Emily is.

I am not very happy this classic tale has been dredged up again in such a sensationalist fashion.

Ok on one hand I can appreciate the whole god thing and Emily in a pickle about what to do. But I just think the storyline was so much better off as part of the shows fabric and part of Emilys character. I now feel something has been taken away.

I would especially now hate to see Ed as a permanent fixture on the show. Emily interacting with him like hes a usual resident.

I just don't like it. I would of preferred a character driven storyline where Emily heard he was released and deals with her feelings.

I always knew when guns were mentioned or something horrid happened in the show that Emily would grimace. We all knew why. It was always subtle and never in your face and I loved that.

I'm not sure why Corrie has become all retrospective. Rita recently mentioning Alan, Hillman and now this.

I love Emily but this storyline doesnt feel right.
