After seeing last night's Hollyoaks, I dont think anyone has ever seen anything so spectacular in Soap History. The graphic showing on Andy's death was excellent, and once again showed why Holyoaks should be winning awards. Definately the storyline is a contender at the British Soap Awards.

But what will happen next with Sam...Is he guilty?// Was he tricked?? I ersonally think he should get away, he will always have guilt in his mind and he never knew the extent of damage it wuld do the victims life. Also, he also did three years because of something he did not commit!

How could he have been tricked? Yes, he was already in jail for something that he didn't do but to then go and do that exact crime that he had been accused of almost makes it worse. To have to convince people that you aren't a rapist and then go and become one anyway - how f***ing stupid!! He should go to jail and live with the guilt there.

But, you're right it was a great episode!! And Andy was a fantastic villian who came to a brilliantly gory end.

They wouldn't be able to even show Andy's death in the nomination clips at the awards it was far too graphic.

Yes i agree. Hollyoaks should definetely win some awards at the British Soap Awards. They deserve it. I think Dannii and Andy should get some recognition for their brilliant acting in the drug rape storyline

Sort of is - but the awards show is on at 9-10.30pm - i am sure between that time they can show the clip, if it is nominated

From what I remember Sam was in prison for manslaughter - didn't someone die in a fire or something? It wasn't rape.

I think Hollyoaks does deserve some awards they handle some really gritty storylines - usually at an early evening slot, and do it well.

Hollyoaks is a joke, hardly a ratings success. Its no longer worthy of awards.

Wasn't he in jail after his ex-girlfriend accused him of rape or something? I missed a year of Hollyoaks so only know what I've been told. I could be wrong though.

Sam was in prison (or rather it was a juvenile correction centre) after being found guilty of arson and manslaughter. His girlfriend Jules' house got on fire and her little brother who was inside died. Sam was accused of doing it and was found guilty etc. Sam always protested his innocence to no avail. Jules turned up not long after the Owens arrived in Hollyoaks and in a confrontation with Jules, her dad and Sam it turned out Sam had indeed been innocent and the person who actually started the fire was Jules dad (I think) and I think Jules knew about it all along, but refused to go to the police to clear Sam's name.......

It was something like that anyway.

While the episodes were "shocking", I hardly think they were anything truly outstanding, especially with regard to the writing which was (as always with Hollyoaks) very matter-of-fact.

I have to agree I'm afraid.
While it was entertaining, I can hardly see Andy alongside the likes of Sadie King, Johnny Allen or Phil Mitchell, Charlie from Corrie etc alas...the storyline was gritty but the acting from the supporting cast was just not strong enough IMHO

Anyway...Rob Hawthorn is the best villain H/O ever had, and he is hard to beat

Who's Saide Frost don't you mean Sadie King

Charlie is terribly acted as is Sadie so won't win.

This year its definatly between Johnny and Andy!

The acting was great even the dreadful Nicole was great!

yes, thats the one! changed!

The big soaps always seem to win though. H/Oaks often will walk away with one award....maybe it will be their lucky day. I still dont think he's a patch on Rob Hawthorn though

I agree Chrissy. normally I cant stand the actress who plays Nicole, but last night was really good. I just think it demonstrates that Hollyoaks would now be better shown at a later past the watershed time and move away from the little kids at school pumping up their chests - even my 11 year old son finds those storylines insulting

The problem with Hollyoaks is that none of the characters are ever truly given definitions. They have storylines thrust upon them and the "character" is always expected to react to the "issue" in a way which seems socially fitting. The same goes for the whole "rape" storyline, the only character which I think may have shown any degree of realism in their actions is Mel, although this was soon pulled apart by the weakness of the dialogue and acting.

The point I am trying to make is that Hollyoaks in general has a very weak character base and characterisation amogst even its more long-term cast members remains very poor. However this does beg the question - does it matter? Since Hollyoaks can be seen as the most disposable of all our serial dramas, do its viewers really care about the poor foundations of storylines or the rapid turnover of characters?
