Up until the Don Beech debacle (27/10/00-31/10/00), The Bill had 12 very established characters still in the show, and at the start of the serial on Thursday 28th February 2002, The Bill had 9 very established characters still in the show. We have just started 2006 and at this moment in time, The Bill has 4 very established characters on board, but with June departing at the end of the year, that will leave only 3 very established characters in the show - Reg Hollis, Tony Stamp and Jack Meadows. I just thought I would bring all of this information to all you members of digitalspy.co.uk

Is there any hope for the Bill? Do you reckon this trend could be reversed at all?

No offence, but I don't think you can lecture anybody else on too many threads on the same subject.

He's basing his opinions on who is "established" or "unestablished" purely on the basis of the length of time these characters have been on the show. That's fine, but to me, how "established" a character is on a programme is down to so much more than their length of time on the programme. For example, I'd argue Sally Johnson had more impact in her 12 months on the programme than others who have spent a similar amount of time than her (e.g. Amber Johannsen) or longer amounts of time (e.g. Kerry Young). I'd also argue that the likes of Yorkie Smith and Robin Frank really have no place being higher up on a list than characters like like Eddie Santini, Gina Gold or Liz Rawton. Smith and Frank seem to be the Dan Caspers and Leela Kapoors of their day; when they leave, they'll be easily forgotten mainly because they're cookie-cutter characters that had very little impact on the programme.

How the hell can you put people like Des taviner and Eddie santini in the 'Totally Unestablished Characters' they had great impacts on the bill

Fascinating (even if most of it is complete and utter rubbish). But you have far too much time on your hands! And to be honest mate I'm sick of your pointless thread slagging off The Bill. We get the picture; you don't like The Bill. So no need for any more threads on this subject.

So are Ramani, Gary and Cass.

Also Juilet, Jo, Des and Luke where established well alon with Kerry who I can't see in the list?

And give Emma, Lewis and Will a chance they have just arrived

Anyway why do you need so many posts on the bill you have

Debbie was one of the worst characters I agree. If you read my list carefully, I have said Sam, Phil and Gina are established compared to the majority of the current cast but are unestablished compared to the people in the very established characters section which they are. Sam, Phil and Gina have got along way to go before they catch the likes of June, Reg, Jim, Bob Cryer and Mr Brownlow up.

As for Des and Luke, thye were established compared to some but not unestablished compared to others. As for Juliet she was never established, she only lasted 4 months. Jo Masters has only been there 13 months so far, so I would hardly class her as established yet and as for Emma, Lewis and Will, I bet you a pound to a penny those three won't last five minutes just like Amber, Ruby, Gemma, Marilyn and Julian didn't.
