Roly the poodle was in EastEnders right from the start
He was the faithful friend of publican Den Watts. Roly was then handed over to Pat and Frank, but ended up back with Sharon. He remained at the Vic until his untimely death in 1993.
Other dogs include Ethel Skinner's Willy
Sadly, he fell ill in 1992 and had to be put down. David Wicks briefly kept a puppy in 1996, a gift from Sam Mitchell. He persuaded Sam to find it a new home by claiming he was too busy to look after it.
Frieda the greyhound belonged to Grant Mitchell
Frieda went to live with Nigel Bates in Edinburgh. Wellard, Robbie Jackson's mutt, is now cared for by Gus Smith. Fluffy poochTerence resides with Billy and Pat, having been dumped by Terry Raymond and Janine Evans.
There have been several cats in the Square to date
Starsky and Hutch belonged to Andy and Debs, while Bella was Rosa di Marco's pet. Auntie Nellie's cat Mandoo was found dead under Joe Wicks' bed! Zoe's cat Baby still lives with the Slaters, while poor Shirley Benson's cat Boots was dumped dead on her doorstep.
Zoe Slater also kept gerbils, much to the disgust of Mo!
Back in 1986, Mehmet Osman's children had a pet snake called Crush. He once escaped and caused uproar in the Osman's cafe!
New Dogs
Two new dogs arrived in Walford in 2004. Genghis is owned by the Miller family, and Betty lives with Pauline Fowler. Ian Beale now has a puppy called Chips.
