voipstunt, voipcheap, sipdiscount, voipbuster etc all owned by the finarea sa group. All are very good but i'd try the one with the most free call destinations and the incoming number.

All knock the spots off skype but I am leaving that for the other thread.

fat boy fat: you've tried the tens/hundreds of voip providers? that's an amazing feat :P - bet you tried a few and went to skype as that is the one you have financial interests in

I find it just as good as the PSTN - i think it uses the g711 codec which is what is used on the PSTN anyway (pstn being your landline).

Give it a go - you normally get 60 seconds to many destinations without putting credit on and you get a free incoming number

I don't use the incoming number so I might be wrong but I really doubt there is forwarding - the number is free and needs no credit to get it.

all offer incoming numbers, and call forwarding. sipgate and i think voipfone do voicemail too. Sipgate have free geographical numbers too, but check before you pay.

There's more to SIP voip than finarea.

i don't use it myself but from what i have heard on the newsgroups (groups.google.co.uk, uk.telecom.voip) it's not bad at all - quite reliable and regular emails if things go wrong or there is maintenance.

Monthly charges, for geographical numbers for instance. I'd want one where you only pay for the calls...

I am now using VOIPStunt (www.voipstunt.com) and have no complaints about the service so far.

I had to get an updated version of the driver for my VOIP USB Handset to gat full functionality but once installed that was it, it all works fine.

I paid a top-up of €10 to get all calls to UK and about 30 countries landlines for free, anytime and they provide an 0560 prefix number for folks to call you directly. International rates outwirth the free destinations appears competitive, audio quality on the calls made so far has been good and connection has been 100% so far. I used to use 18866 (same company) but now I will use VOIP and save the 4p connection charge.

Well worth a try...... cheaper than Skype and miles cheaper than most landline call inclusive deals.
