I don't know what's happened to him but it'll be a little unfair if he gets a bye into the next round because of his absence

It looked bloody painful though.

Cue posts about it being unfair that David gets another chance.

With only an hour to go before the show and in consultation with the other skaters I think that this bye can be excused. I would say the same if something like that had happened to any of them.

Poor Pam I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

You can't take it away from them can you??? They've got guts!!

Awww he looked so down. I feel sorry for him and Pam.

No votes from me tonight, then, as I've been putting a couple of votes in every week for David.

I think letting him through to next week is the right thing to do.

I hope she recovers quickly -- it looked soooooo painful.

to agree with david getting a bye would be hypocritical. i like him a lot, but i was against kelly getting another go if todd couldn't skate - so i apply the same criteria to david.

should kelly prosper from the sympathy vote i'll be livid

I have to agree with you. The injury was caused in rehearsals, couldn't be helped but it happened, so he should have to forfeit his place.

Gaynor is my favourite, however if the an injury had caused her to have to pull out this week, I would expect her to withdraw also, same as I would of any of them.

Giving David that by, is so infair and it could mean Gaynor ending up in the bottom two and going out on a great performance now

he should have been pulled from the comp

its unfair that a couple who maybe better will go tonight

David and Pam deserve to stay. Sean being robbed last week when Bonnie's vote line was put under his name on the ITV website was a total swizz. THAT'S what I call unfair!

I guess because I don't particularly have a favourite I can't get into this 'unfair' thing and worrying about someone else going out.

It's an entertainment show, not the Olympics! I suspect the other skaters all recognise that winning or going home isn't going to change their lives. I like that they have the generousity to support a fellow competitor in the game who had a really difficult evening - I like that it is more important to them than 'winning'. Makes me like all of them even more!

Funny thing about the Olympics (scuse me getting totally distracted) is that I was watching the Ice Dancers the other night and when I compared them to our DOI couples the difference stands out a mile!!
When I first started watching DOI I thought they were all fantastic (and still do) but there is a marked difference watching the real Pro's...

(Yip, I know the Olympic Pro's have been doing it for years)!!

It is fantastic TV Entertainment though and I can't wait for the next series..

I was thinking that when Jayne and Chris skated at the beginning of the programme. They make everything look so effortless and they are so in time and tune with each other.

Agree 100%. The celebs have all been amazing, and I really admire how much they've all put into it, and how much progress they've made....but real skaters are a whole different experience.

David 'safe hands' Seaman!!

So, the judges see the all the practice performances then do they - so the aren't coming into the performances 'cold' as it were?

Jayne and Chris skate - which is why you don't see Jayne being lifted and twisted like a plate on a stick for 90% of the routine. So why does Bonnie received such high marks for spending so much time in the air?

LMAO. A plate on a stick! It's a perfect description of Bonnie's "skating"!

Many of us are still trying to find the answer to that!! It's like the search for the Holy Grail!!!

They do see the rehearsals, but that's actually beneficial as it means the judges know what to look for and judge the routine more effectively. In 'proper' skating events the judges will know what the routine will contain (and in most cases will have seen it more than once in previous events).

I know, it's difficult really it does make the impartiality a bit suspect - are they marking what they actually see or what they expect/want to see?
