Bollocks.

My W800i can be made to take silent photos by putting it into silent mode.

It's unbranded.

My w800i is NOT debranded [yet]

When in silent mode [holding down #]

Makes NO shutter sound/click when i use the camera

Note - some sites that take money use stupid
bullshit to sell a service ie.. removes shutter
click, use mp3 as ring tones etc.. chances are
you can already!!

IF you listen very closely the camera does still make a 'click' sound when it takes a picture. Though it is so low you would not here it unless you really listened for it.

Nope that is the sound of the auto focus, click as it focuses and then when you take the picture the lens resets giving another click. NO sound is made by the speaker.

As i said, the phone makes a click sound. Whether its the autoshutter the autofocus, the rickety old circuit board the phone is still making a little noise. To be pedantic i never said it was the phones speaker, i said it was the camera.

Course you can get it repaired..and for free.It has a 12month guarentee. Just take it to the place you purchased it, tell them the problem...Thats when they ask "have you got Insurance?" Then you tell them you don't need it as its only 8 months old it is still under garentee. Its the LAW that they have to repair or replace the faulty goods.

I have been through this(along with C.A.B) with Orange a couple of times with faulty Nokia phones. The SHOP will say its Orange you need to speak to....IT IS NOT! The shop sold the phone you have a contract with Orange for the air time not the phone therefore the shops responsibility(even Orange told me this). If you don't have any luck with the shop visit your local C.A.B they will draught you a letter out to take to the shop...Basically stating the phone must be "fit for the purpose".

Any trouble ask for the Manager, they actually lied to me and said he was out on the second phone I returned. Unknown to them I knew him from the first encounter and had just seen him serving someone.

They will most likely try to say you need to speak to Orange but as I said stand your ground.....BTW Unknown to me at the time Orange shops are not run by Orange, they are franchises. Thats why the shop tries to fob you off as they are the ones losing money/commision on returned phones.....Shame

Had it with a P900, it was a duff connection on the battery, just cleaning the contacts on phone(hard to do on the 750i) and battery fixed it. But my phone only went off when I put it in my pocket.??

Hi

Not had this with my K750i, but did have it with a T630. In fact I went through three of them until I worked out it was the charger that seemed to be the casue of the fault. Swapped the charger and the problem disappeared.

kfv

PS: Mine used to switch off and back on again. And often did it at 5 o'clock in the morning.

I've got dust under my screen, in the bottom right corner
Its right above the left soft key button. Do you think a seal could be broken or something?

The k750i isn't sealed it just screws(very small torx) and clips together. You can lift the side up and blow the dust out or get a tissue in to get it out, but the plastic is very soft and easy to scratch.

I dont get you. How do I get access beneath the screen to clean it?
Do I need a star shaped screwdriver?

Think that info in the begining of the link is wrong. Both my k750i have small torx screws holding the front cover on (just re checked), Two at the bottom and one at the top. You can lever the side up enough to get a tissue in but to remove the front cover you need a tool.
