Philips DVDR70 "blocked"

Can any one help, disc is stuck and recorder just says
"blocked".

Think I'll have to bin it and get a cheap one

...bottom of post, under 'Downgrading firmware'. There's two methods; one with button-pressing together with power-on, the latter a mechanical way to open the tray.

I've got one with the same problem, i got the disc out the mechanical way. Other method wouldn't work.

Are you saying a firmware flash fix that muska? Or just how to get the disc out?

Firmware flash may or may not bring benefits.

I got my disc out, the mechanical way


now all I need to do is sort the rest out



Anyone any suggestions on the "blocked" problem?

Ah ok, ta.
If you flash it with the disc and it works let me know tony. I don't have the equipment to burn the disc.

Now you have the disc out, try the firmware downgrade, then upgrade back to where you were. This has worked for some.

If that doesn't work, then it's a fault that probably only the factory can fix.

Apparently Philips have recently reduced their out-of-warranty repair price to £80; see this thread on the CD Freaks site.
