Hello everybody, my first look at the soaps, I'm afraid I'm a cast off from the BB3 forum - that forum is gasping its final breath, excellent fun while it lasted though - so, here I am

Hi & welcome. Took the same route as you - via the BB3 forum. Also check out the 'General Discussion' forum - its good fun and is the home away from home for a lot of BBers.

Yes it is..on the BBC America channel. We are 3 weeks behind you. They show it once a week in one omnibus. Some of the public channels in some states show it too but they are about 2-3 years behind. BBCA is saying that if the ratings don't go up they may have to remove it, witch would be devastating to many. they do not promote the show at all I always peek at the update board on the main EE site that way I can kind of keep up with what people are talking about. Nice to meet you.

Lets hope the ratings improve so that you can continue to enjoy ! I've always enjoyed soap operas and dramas from around the world so if the BBC were to promote the show a little I am certain it would appear to a larger audience.
Thanks for replying.

No problems here. Regarding promoting EE in the US...well compared to the soaps we have here it is so different....EE has real life situations and the characters are just plain old ordinary people. In US soaps everyone is dressed like they are going to the Oscars. The have very few older character such as Dot and Jim and mainly focus on the younger crowd. It's a shame because EE is far superior to our soaps including the acting.

jansey I was re-reading the email that BBC-A sent me and I believe they meant that they`ll discontinue EE on Saturdays if it doesn`t become profitable with the advertising, not remove EE altogether.
Heaven forbid they should even dare to even think of taking off EE altogether. They`d have a major riot on their hands to even suggest it. They`ve messed around with EE enough in the past by taking off EE - the Early years.

Sorry to give you false hope but they moved the Friday showing to Saturday...mainly due to all of the uproar but said they would monitor it till next year..I think, and if ratings still have not gone up they will cancel it. So what they basically are doing is giving in to our rants about Friday..moving it to Sat knowing the ratings will not go up much since they do zero advertising of the show and then pull it. From a business standpoint it is beautifully played out. They can come back and say...hey we gave you your chance...we moved it to a day that you were much happier with and the ratings are still sad. Then when they launch VOD what do you think will be the first show offered that people will be willing to pay for? Certainly not GF or CR but EE. And I hate to say this but I will pay. I am not a traitor but I have to say they are playing this out beautifully:'( I guess I have been in the corperate world tooo long. I see the writing on the wall for this show.

I don't understand why BBC-A would want to cause so much problems for showing EE. With as much showing of GF and CR they have on (and all re-run my I add), they shouldn't even threaten to take out EE especially since it is a BBC favorites.
