2) The lady with the curly hair who seems to be jumping around alot got very upset with Alan because he pulled them for using flirtation techniques and claimed that it was unfair for them to be labelled as sluts or be labelled as always using "sex sells" as a tactic that was somehow underhanded... but wait a minute, she was involved with the whole concept "sex sells" and embraced it... so now she's crying waterworks because Alan tells them off for using "sex sells" and she's upset because they did and she thought they didn't? (yes, I'm confused too!)

3) The constant product placement of Amstrad E-mailer phones, why are they all over the place...?

4) Alan gets bored very easily and wants quick answers to everything, even if they take time to explain...

It was a good episode though.
this is entirely true except that Excitable Curly Girl (Jo?) did protest in the team get-together that she didn't want to rely on their "assets".

So although it can't have come as a huge surprise when the others did anyway she can't be said to have "embraced" the idea.

She was blooming irritating though!

I just thought that I would post a list of all the contestants websites that I am aware of so far....

www.alexatilley.com

www.jocameron.co.uk

www.karenbremner.com

www.ruthbadger.com

www.sharonmcallister.com

www.ansellhenry.co.uk

www.tuanle.co.uk

Several other contestants have registered domian names, but do not actually have a website at the moment.

The curly girl used another female gimmik, showing she can use female wyles to off put men, she got emotional and on the brink of crying, if theres one thing to keep you safe and in favour from red blooded men it's crying and flirting.

I actually think Alan got them to qualify there postion, of flirting and selling "day of" stock nicely, He wanted them to quantify there approach and guarantee they would be able to do it again, thus gaining the all important repeat buisness.

Syied has to go what a knob, "the A team", "bring on the mind games", the man is witless and I would love to know the name of his recruitment agency, the advertising slogan probably goes "The A team, you got a recruitment problem nobody else can solve, let the A team help"

I think SAS should have made more of it, Mel.
The lads could have gone out for the rest of the week and made the same profit, the girls couldn't have pulled the same stunt twice.

Thanks for these! Bit worrying that these people have started websites (unless they had them before) - seems a slight wanabee celeb mentality coming through. I liked it better in the first series when we didn't know all that much about the contestants when the series was on.

I love the reference to curly girl

As a girly myself, found her tactics pretty offensive, but then saw clips of next episode, and either she does use them as tactics, which is a nonsense, or she is just a whiney, cry-baby, therefore, what on earth is she doing attempting to enter the tough world of business!!

I have a feeling a woman will win this time. On the whole they seem better candidates. The men all seemed to have a lack of common sense/determination/communication skills.

This is not a competition to win a telesales job or job working in sales. They are looking for a candidate who is well rounded, mouldable into Sir Alan Sugar’s organisation and someone who will work in a project management and business role. The guy may not be good at sales but may have good communication skills, as we shall see in time.

Besides several candidates last year said quite early on, I'm not a sales guy/girl and if you are looking for a sales person then I'm not your person. I can very well recollect Raj saying this in the first series and he went very far even after saying this.

The problem was that they were selling sub-standard stock which was on its sell by date. It was just ripe. They did not make this clear to the customers so ethically business wise they were wrong. Yes to earn quick buck this might be a good business idea, but Sir Alan Sugar wants people who establish longterm businesses where there is repeat custom. I wouldn't buy from the girls a second time if the first time they did not make it clear I was buying sell by date fruit, nor would many people.

In the American series (2?) the womens team were specifically told to stop the flirting, the reason given was that it was unprofessional. I think it is one of those "fine lines". The women may have won the challenge, but did they do their reputation any good? If Alan had to choose someone last night to be his apprentice, I doubt it would have been a female. A case of a short term benefit at a long term cost. I think some of the women needed to consider the bigger picture, which does not necessarily backup the idea of "win at ANY cost!".

Since when has sex not been used in advertising or inform design? He then compounded it all by coming up with the sort of nonsensical solution a poor third class university student would come up with - giving them the same cost for a different quantity of a different product - a move as illogical as it was pointless. He wasn't even consistent with his morals - he could equally have turned on the boys for browbeating stupid people into buying fruit at astronomical prices - thats more likely to get you on Watchdog than flirting with your supplier.

The fact was that the girls won on profit margins, salespoints, quantity of stock, advertising and imagination. He didn't pick Ben up on the lack of these considerations or his other failures like selling metric units at imperial prices or buying extra stock at full price from the local shops to force on halfwits on their door steps. Instead of actually commenting on all that, all we ended up with was a decision that Ben had done less well than the girls, had gone for one outlet, seemed to pass the buck and annoyed his team . Right conclusion, but as an argument it was very weak and implicit compared to the one that should have been made.
Of course they won, but it doesn t alter the fact that their place is in the wrong.

For anyone that missed it its repeated on Saturdays
(BBC3 - 7.45pm) and followed immediately by the half-hour interview/highlights/debate show.

For those of you without Freeview/Sky/cable the main show is also repeated on Tuesdays (BBC2 - 7pm).
