Tivo Problems
Gillypoots

I hope I'm in the right forum to discuss Tivo machines.

I was wondering if anyone who has a Tivo, has encountered the problem that I have at the moment.

The machine has been working fine with no problems, but suddenly on Monday night, it started recording programmes but when it came to watching the programme, there isn't one to watch! I can't find anything wrong with the connections and the station selections are still ticked.

Anyone any ideas please?

What is the TiVo connected to? The only similar issues I've had have been when my Sky digibox crashes, so the TiVo doesn't get a signal to record. Powering off the digibox for a couple of minutes fixes it. To be fair to Sky my digibox hasn't crashed since the last update (I can't say the same about the previous version - that seldom ran more than a few weeks without crashing).

It's connected to a landline.

We have found that we can record from a live programme okay, but it's the programmes that are set up as a Season Pass that are recording, but don't actually have anything there to watch when you press play.

You'd be better off asking your question here: http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...splay.php?f=14

Thanks Richard. I have just done so.

I only hope someone on there might know what's occurring because we have phoned the Tivo Help Centre, but they don't seem to know anything more than we do!

The problem I have had in the past, is very occassionally season pass programs look like they have recorded but when you watch them the screen is blank, and the bar along the bottom remains clear, when you fast forward the bar does not go green. I delete the recording and power cycle Tivo, this normally clears the problem and subsequent season pass programs record ok. This has only happened once or twice in six months or so. As to the reason why it does I don't know.

Did the Tivo forum answer your question?

If not and for the record. "Empty" recordings are caused by there being no input signal. Most of the time Tivo senses this.

Often caused because the Sky box, or Freeview box that feeds it is switched off or not connected properly.

Check your connections and the input to the Tivo by pressing thre "AUX" button.

Another possibility is that this was caused by the sky EPG update. check in the phone menu under setup and force a daily call. If this fails, check your phone connection.
