Anyone else noticed that if you record something using Guide Plus and then try and rename it, you can't use more characters than were in the original GuidePlus name?

An example, over the last week I've recorded most of series 1 of Friends - and on the disc navigator all the episodes are just labelled as "Friends".

Went to try and rename the episodes to 'Friends 1.1', 'Friends 1.2' etc and found that it's impossible to make the name any longer than the original GuidePlus name!

So now I have an HDD full of titles called 'Fr 1.1' etc...

Gah! Overall this is a superb machine but the more I use it, the more little niggly things I find with it.

What else... oh yeah, having to go into the 'Input Line System' screen to change PAL/NTSC recording and playback... I know from the disc Navigator I can at least play both PAL and NTSC footage, but I can't edit both and I can't copy both to disc...

I think the Guideplus system adds blank spaces after the title to fill the title field, so when you try to add more letters it says there isn't room. Go into title edit, press and hold "clear" till the title is deleted, then type whatever you want. Alternatively, in your case, move to the end of "Friends" with your fast-forward button, press clear a few times to delete some of the spaces, then add your 1.1, 1.2 etc. Hope this helps!

mine (philips) can edit names as long as like - maybe it's full of spaces as mentioned - in which case dont type any letters - just ammend existing ones (incl spaces) by scrolling up/down
