Hi,
I've seen the Samsung DVD-511 for a very reasonable price and it seems to have all the features I would want as a beginning DVD-phile.
2 questions I hope somebody can help me out on:
- can this model be code-changed, or made code-free. Either by remote control key combination, or is hardware change necessary?
- any good/bad experiences with this model, other recommendations

If you can get a good deal on this machine (better than rrp £230) then you will find it a solid performer. A little above average, my cousin who has this machine has found no cause for complaint. In fact most reviews I've seen of it only complain about the price.

It can be made Multi-region using a remote, using the same methods as the Samsung 709 - see details in post above. BUT it is not permanent, so you have to do it every time after putting the machine in standby.

Using the one-for-all 5, it took a while to get it right the first time, but once we had assigned the macro to a button, it works after about 2 presses every time. Very sweet indeed.
