TV star Kym Marsh has landed a role in Coronation Street. The former Hear'say singer and Loose Women presenter is to play wannabe singer, Michelle. She rubs Liz up the wrong way after getting the part in a girl band set up by Vernon.

Kym last night said: “I’ve said so many times what a huge fan of Coronation Street I am and how much I’d love to be in the show, so this is a dream come true.”

I like Kym so I think this will be OK - She wasnt too bad in Hlby City when she made a appearance.

I dont watch Corrie anymore, but I thought she was quite good in Holby so would give her a chance before I had the knives out!

For heaven's sake bring in ACTORS not tabloid tarts. They want to turn our soaps into reality TV shows. This'll be worse than Roxanne Pallette over on Emmerdale, can't sing, can't act, show you her knickers anytime for a fiver

I'm interested to see what she's able to do, so I'm not going to cast verdict yet.

Ehh? Kym Marsh is not a tabliod slag like Abi Titmas and so on.. she has never got her baps out for the papers or in hardly
any raunchy shots - she presents Loose Women on ITV. Are you thinking of someone else?

According to Teletext she's in 4 episodes.

If the producers like her it could be longer.

Teletext today says it's for 4 episodes, as a wannabe singer auditioning for Vernon's group.

Hells bells, give her a chance. They had Keith Duffy from blinkin' Boyzone in it and he was alright.
In the end

Sorry but I must say that there are simply far too many "famous faces" hanging around Coronation Street at the moment.

Granada should give opportunity to some new talent rather than pandering to the egos of has-beens.

I'm so fed up of singers and ex reality tv stars wanting to appear on soaps. Kym is obviously thinking that her singing didnt go well,so she will try acting, anything to keep her in the limelight.
I'm disappointed that Kym is giving a chance to appear on Coronation Street, when she has had her chance with fame.

I agree with Elsie Tanner,I'd rather see some new talent we haven't seen before rather than ex singers getting the chance to appear on a soap, just because they were once in a pop band.

Coronation Street is certainly the worst culprit for having "famous" actors, and it's all off the back of the days when Corrie really was the "in thing". There seemed to be cameo after cameo and famous people everywhere were rumoured to be appearing in the show. Now that the programme is perhaps teetering on the edge of a slump, new faces should be brought in and developed naturally rather than having celebrity-flops ushered in with the hope of gaining viewers' approval.

It just seems so unfair that kym clicks her fingers saying she wants to appear on corrie and she gets what she wants, what about all those people who aren't famous but who want to be actors and struggle to get a role?

They're hardly cameo appearances as they're regulars
