British Gas deal with One Tel for BT customers, is it ok?
Hi, the other day whilst on the phone to a British Gas customer services representative I was informed that as a Gas, Electric and BT customer that i was eligible to receive free evening calls with One Tel. I was told that i would remain with BT and would still pay my bill to them but i would just be getting free calls with One Tel with no catch.
I said that i was interested and the application was put in motion. A few days ago i received a standard letter from BT about this move. They said that total control of my line would be switched to One Tel who would have total control of my call charges and all i would pay them would be line rental. I was not expecting this actually. I thought that all i would be getting from One Tel would be the free calls maybe by dialling a number to activate this and that would be it. My question is has anybody done this and would you recommend it or not? Thanks |

OneTel are now part of TalkTalk, TalkTalk bought them of Centrica a month or two ago, though they are still offering a service for British Gas.
It is a CPS (Carrier Pre-Select) service, this means your line rental remains with BT, but all calls are automatically routed by your chosen CPS service. Any calls you want to go back over BT (such as 0870, 0845, 0844) you can dial 1280 in front of the number. Also as it is only a CPS service and not WLR (taking over line rental) you can still use cheap call carriers like 1899 and 18185. Be careful in not letting anyone take over the line rental, CPS is fine. I couldn't find out if they have a time limit on the length of each call, such as 60, 70, 90 mins etc. You have to remain a British Gas customer for the above offer, and for most British Gas isn't the best option, unless you don't use Gas. http://www.planet-talk.co.uk/saverpr...x?source=saver Also offer for no monthly fee via CPS free evening and weekend calls, plus you don't need to remain with certain energy suppliers. |

BexTech and JSemple3 I have decided to cancel it now with One Tel. I think that i was told slightly misleading info on the phone. I was not told that One Tel would take over my line and i am not to keen on them doing that. I didn't think that i would be being billed by One Tel.
I also do also do not want two separate bills either. thank your advice and help on this. |

Hi there all!
I think that I will add a copy of an email to this forum regarding Onetel: Dear *********** Thank you for your email. I apologise for delay in response. I can confirm that OneTel is staying OneTel, upto now we are not migrating customers from OneTel to TalkTalk, if the situation changes you will recieve confirmation about this. If you have any further queries, please contact us on 0870 444 1820 or via email to customerservices@talktalk.co.uk. Regards TalkTalk Correspondence Department I also received an email from Onetel Customer Services with the same information, both dated February 17th 2006. Brooke Bond |

Even though i rang up to cancel the person who took my call from a call centre abroad it seems like he did not put my cancellation order through because i got switched to One Tel on Monday.
I will let you know what i make of them when i get my fist bill through. |
