well i'm sure it because NME actually pay to put their name to the stage, same as Snickers and Napster do for their respective stages at Donington.

The NME stages come from a time when bands that weren't the mainstream could get the chance to play, but seeing that at the moment mainstream in the UK means 'cod-retro' music and actually there isn't an underground music scene it has all become a tad redundant.
It appears that every form of music, guitar, urban..whatever..is hyped and marketed to its maximum Mainly geared towards early teens (the once Boyband bracket) to sell by the bucket loads creating short shelf lifes for these acts. Im struggling to find any difference between 'guitar bands, and the boyband scene a few years back. Yes I know these bands write there own songs on the whole but Im referring to marketing, the Artic Monkeys come to mind. Gone are the days where a band would tour for years, sign to an indie label, write songs and develope before even getting a whiff of a major record contract... ch'ching £££££££££££££££
