I put this question on the general PVR but this a more logical place to ask this.

How fast / responsive is the topfield EPG.
I love the speed of channel flicking and EPG scrolling on SKY+. Is the toppy as fast?.

the built in EPG is a bit cumbersome, its slow to populate, and as you scroll through the available channels the toppy changes channel with the EPG losing the buffer as it goes.

However things arent all that bad, as all you need to do is link the toppy to a PC using a USB cable download an EPG Tap and things improve signifficantly.

I have recently moved from SKY+ to Toppy and have found the inbuilt epg guide to be slow.

EPG taps have be written that overcome this problem by storing the epg data to the hard disk so that is allways available to the epg. The data is sourced from the original epg tranmission or from external source via the usb port.

My personal preferance is a TAP call MYstuff with my epg data automatically copied from my PC to the Toppy once a day from radiotimes website. If you haven'y got a permanent connection to the Toppy usb port then Mystuff can be used with a Tap called 'eit2mei'. This tap scans the transmitted epg guide and store it on the hard disk in a format that MYstuff can read.

Once you use this type of TAP the epg quide is faster than SKY and has the advantage that it can be pulled up onscreen without breaking away from what is currently being viewed

I have the mystuff TAP and use the jags TAP to collect the EPG data for mystuff. I also have Sky.

I still find the SKY EPG quicker - not much quicker, but quicker enough to make the SKY EPG more pleasant to use.

Well I bought a Toppy, was a little worried that I'd be disappointed when coming from sky+, but I shouldn't have been concerned.

Once I'd put the Mystuff and eit2mei TAPs on it's easily 90% as good as sky+ and plenty responsive.

I couple of minor annoyances but I'm sure Mystuff will get there in the end.
