Absolutely. Wasn't it a triple axel, triple loop & triple toe loop? Amazing! Was great to see him chilled out doing a little boogie afterwards too

I think he's the best I've ever seen - and the best news is that he's carrying on and will be there for 2009!

I know, I was really happy to hear that he'll be carrying on to Vancouver. I stopped watching the figure skating around the time Philippe Candeloro stopped competing, but as Eurosport will be covering the World Championships, I'm going to make sure I keep up with who's who now. As much as I was engrossed with these Olympics, it's so much better when you know the skaters and have your own personal favourites.

I think the Kerrs were great btw. 10th was a great result for them, so hopefully over the next four years they'll move steadily up and might be in with a medal shout in Vancouver.

Ive always loved the Ice Gala, however I missed this years

The skaters have total freedom and can pretty much do as they like. They do backflips and all sorts.

The move Plushenko did at the gala wasn't even included in his routines and most of the other skaters fell when they attempted that. To think he just pulled it out of the bag for the gala is unbelievable for any other skater that move would have been a showpiece of their routine. He is in a league of his own

Ah, I remember the days of Scott Hamilton and our Robin (Cousins), and their amazing backflips in the galas. They had some wonderful routines to go with them, too. Robin could jump amazingly high.

Robin cousins wasnt a patch on John Curry, now there was a skater to match the Russians

BBC 2 decided to show a Gardeners World special and a Timewatch programme whilst this was happening - horrendous scheduling in my opinion, as it means the majority will never get to watch this spectacular event, normally one of the highlights of the Winter Olympics.

Yes - bitterly disappointing... though they did show about 15 minutes highlights during a break in the ice hockey this afternoon

Yes I watched it and I loved Ploshenko and all the Pair Skaters as well. They did some jaw dropping stunts.

The commentator said it was a special night for Ploshenko as it was the first time his mum had come to watch him skate as before, she thought she would put him off. So I bet he felt pretty emotional
