I think Bonnie will have to improve next week if she is going to win as she obviously has less public support than the others. I thought David skated well considering they could hardly practice all week with Pam recovering from her injury in the first half and David sick over the last three days. I think with a proper week of rehearsal he could have done well in the final. Still he can be proud of himself and pleased with the audience reaction which was noticably more enthusiastic than it was for Bonnie.

My point is, the fact that he did it well twice shows that he is better than she is... Ok so her spin in the second routine was good but if she had to do it 10 times, she would probably only get it right that once!

I think David has the peformance skills... The fact that he's a 6ft 4 former goalkeeper doing ice dancing - keeping his balance whilst lifting his partner and skating quite gracefully, proves how far he's come and how Bonnie being lifted up and spun around in the air week by week (which is what she does as a PROFESSION), proves that she is not a good skater... and she certainly hasn't improved as much as the others.

Maybe they wanted to take someone through to the final that won't be able to touch Gaynor and Stefan....

So I gather from some of the other posts they're not actually skating Torvill and Dean's Bolero next week, just a routine to the music? That's quite a disappointment, I thought the whole series was built on that being the final.

Because many of the people posting in this thread are acting like children. Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion, but why do such vitriolic comments have to be made about Bonnie? She's never less than 100% professional, like all the other celebrities, and her skate-off performance tonight was excellent. Admittedly, her first performance wasn't that good, but she fought back and improved. People just seem to be insanely petty and incredibly short-sighted. Did you not see Gaynor carried across the ice for the vast majority of her performance? If not, I suggest you rewatch the show. David and Stefan are at a disadvantage, as the male skater has to control the lifts, but if you knock Bonnie it's only fair you knock Gaynor as well. People might not like it, but it's true.

I love watch Bonnie and Matt perform as she is so graceful adn athletic , which is great, but David is by far a better skater, and although at first I was enjoying her aerial performances too much to worry about her ground work, its now beginnign to grate on me considering just how much improvement the rest of them are showing.

I don't think Bonnie has the public support to win, I think she wuld have to pull off an outstanding personal groundwork routine next week on top of her beautiful lidts to have a chance of lifting that Silver Skate Trophy.

But that's not performance skills. That's his technical skating ability which he had a great deal of when he came in having formerly played ice hockey.

John Barrowman had performance skills. He could come on the ice and throw himself it a piece of music, putting on a show with not only his technical ability but with his facial expressions and secondary movement. There was never any discernible difference in David's performance no matter what type of song he was dancing to. He concentrated on the technical side and let the added artistic elements go to one side.

Bonnie has an advantage here, being a professional dancer, but she was performing to her music, not just allowing it to be some accompaniment in the background.

I only wish it were. Actually, it's a witch-hunt against Bonnie. And there is no justification for such a tirade of abuse in her direction. You don't have to like her, but that doesn't mean you have to hate her!

Where did anyone say they hated Bonnie ? They were discussing her skating skills or lack of on the ice, not her skills in the air. Forum members have a right to discuss this if they wish. It is not as if they are pulling apart any of her features or anything.

If you think it is wrong for forum members not to share your love of Bonnie and to debate about Bonnie, maybe it is best you take it up with the mods, rather than pull forum members apart for their views, and to make suggestions of witch hunts. Witch hunts being a very over used word on the forums lately I have noticed.

To be honest I am getting a bit peeved at your posting attacks on forum members for not sharing your views on Bonnie. We should be discussing the show, not your dislike of anyone on here not sharing your views.

I stand by what I said, she is the worst of the lot and has been for a couple of weeks. Gaynor is as good in the air as Bonnie, yet bonnie cannot skate for toffee.

I'm sad to see David go, but wasn't his first spin on two feet rather than one i.e. what Bonnie's ended up as in the first routine? In the 2nd routine, we couldn't clearly see David's feet for all of the spin, but we did see Bonnie's was great. As Christopher Dean said hers was the best, I'd tend to go with his judgement on that particular point and as it was the required element, that may be what helped swing it with the judges.

I take your point about Bonnie's consistency with the spin, but the judges were meant to just go on what they saw before them for the skate-off... apparently. David had skated before too (didn't someone say he could have been a pro ice hockey player at one point and also did the BBC ice dance programme?), so much as I'm sad to see him go, I can see how it happened. I think he was great however. For a guy of his stature to be so graceful is quite an achievement and Pam & him seemed to have a lovely rapport.

David has skated before which was necessary as he joined the show later as a replacement for someone who just couldn't learn to skate. He said that he played some ice hockey as a child and was offered a trial at the age of 14 but chose football and hadn't skated since. He was in a BBC show a couple of years ago but they hardly did anything. So he might have had some basic skills but was as new to ice dance as the others. Based on the skate-off, the decision was OK as Bonnie pulled off the spin on one leg - however, he is more elegant than her on the ice - no mean feat! - and apart from the 'head banger' never gave the impression that anything might go wrong which I didn't feel about Bonnie. She sometimes seems a bit unsteady on her feet. She always says she is 41 - but he is 42 and has probably never danced in his life. So he has done really well.

Wasn't David a late replacement for Gazza on the BBC 1 show? (I may have that wrong.) Bonnie was a replacement on this show for someone apparently, don't know who though. I just remember it being mentioned on DOI Defrosted one week.

I thought I'd heard somewhere David replaced someone else on DOI too which was why it was ok he had experience, but I don't think that's ever been referred to on the show. Anyone know if that is right and if so who it was?

I like Bonnie but think she will be the first out in the final as she is not popular with the viewing public - I do agree she spends little time skating but she does do everything with great flair and grace.
