The Positives
TH14
25-02-2006
OK so Bonnie lives to see another day but there are some positives to take (IMO)

Stefan and Gaynor are through and IMO they have come on the most over the weeks they have made great progress. They are both graceful on ice and deserve it. I think they both have the potential to have a decent shot at Bolero

Bonnie will provide us with a great laugh trying to actually skate to Bolero next week

Stop being so hard on Bonnie.

None of them are bad at this stage, they were all excellent. We all have our favourites but lay off those sour grapes and move on.

No sour grapes...my favourite went through. I'm just convinced that Bonnie will spend most of next week on her arse

I think David's a better skater than Bonnie, but I kinda knew he'd leave.

The right two were in the skate off this week, not sure that the judges were marking down for omission of the required element though!

I thought the right one got through this week

I enjoy being entertained

Is that a positive?

My order was

1. Gaynor
2. Stefan
3. Bonnie
4. David

I don't think Bonnie or David nailed the element first time round and was surprised that the judges scored her joint 2nd with Stefan, however Bonnie was a lot better in the skate off, so was David, but not quite as good as Bonnie.

Only two of the couples will dance Bolero, so unfortunately you may miss out of your "great laugh" TH14. I'm sure you'll be devastated. To me, finding the idea of one of our finalists falling this week, funny, is childish. I'm sure you wouldn't find it funny, or like it much, if one of the other two fell.

I think it's pathetic to carry on pulling Bonnie to bits on this forum. Like it or not, and whether you want to admit it or not, she deserves to be there as much as anyone else. The public voted her through right up until the last two shows, and then the judges clearly thought she deserved to go ahead. Obviously some of you disagree but there is just as many who agree she deserves her place in the final. Maybe some of you could stop bitching for a second and take the time to congratulate them ALL on getting this far, whether or not you think they deserve it it's just a nice thing to do, instead of this ridiculous picking at Bonnie which i really don't see the point of.

I love that she got to the final night, not just because it's annoying the hell out of some of you, but because she truly deserves it. Well done Bonnie and i know you'll give us your best, as always.

I'm not sure if just 2 will be doing bolero. The TV guide says just two will do it wheareas on Defrosted they were saying they will all perform two routines one being bolero We'll have to wait and see

As for Bonnie, fair play to her for getting where she is. She does what she's good at very well but the main gripe many have with her is that the time she spends skating on her own is minimal. If she carries on relying on Matt then she'll struggle to dance to bolero. However, if she is allowed to do her own interpretation of it she may fluke it. I'm of the opinion that Bonnie is very agile, is a great dancer but is poor on the ice. Considerably weaker than Stefan and Gaynor anyway and seeing as the show is called Dancing ON Ice I think Stefan and Gaynor would be the most worthy winners UNLESS Bonnie delivers a show stopping performances which doesn't involve lifting and involves her skating on her own without Matt clinging onto her

Somehow, even if she does do a performance entirely on the ice with no lifts whatsoever, i still don't think too many people on here would say she's a worthy winner. No doubt they'll find something wrong with it, just because it's Bonnie.

Not saying everyone would, just some of the lovely members here

If she skates well I'll put my hands up and say well done BUT I can't give her credit when she does little more than lifts and spins and when she is on the ice she just clings onto Matt. I think the public has cottoned onto that which is why she's losing support. If she spent a good chunk of the routine entirely on her own and skates well I'll give her credit

Personally, I think Gaynor is great and there's been very little anti Gaynor sentiment on here. The main gripe is that Bonnie gets carried through performances and cocks up the required element yet still gets the same score as Stefan The judges are biased towards Bonnie and Seaman himself said on This Morning that they knew straight away where at least one vote was going. That is why people are starting to favour her less. In fact, the public have seen what's going on and the judges are now her worst enemy. Last weeks Material Girl performance certainly wasn't worthy of the highest marks either but at least the public saw that

I don't think Bonnie can be blamed for her lack of skating on the ice - she doesn't choose the routines and maybe would be steadier on her feet had she been allowed to skate more from the beginning -she also has no influence on the distribution of the points. I saw an interview with her today where she said she joined the training at the end of November which must put her at a disadvantage too. However, I don't think she will win as she just doesn't seem to have the public behind her.
I enjoyed the This Morning DOI special today with David, Pam and two of the judges. It makes a change to have the evicted couple perfectly happy about being voted off and saying that all they wanted from the skate-off was to put on a good performance - and David refused to get drawn in to saying that Bonnie had won the skate-off before they even went on the ice. He just said that he knew where Jason's vote was going but laughed about it and that he just wanted the routine to go well. He really is a nice guy.

I did think though that there was a momentary look of resignation on Pam's face in particular when she realised they were skating off against Bonnie...*****NB I don't necessarily blame Bonnie for this****

When Bonnie and partner were on GM TV this morning Bonnies partner seemed a bit p*ssed off about the comments of her not skating enough he said it takes just as much to be lifted and keep in position as it does to skate and he would not be able to do the lifts without Bonnie doing her fair share of the work

in an interview with the British ice dancers at the olympics they also commented about how hard it was to keep lifts in the right position and needing core strength

I also think they knew they were going - as I'm sure all the viewers did too. However, the reaction of the audience to them when they came on the ice and throughout their performance was worth more than the judges' votes. It would be interesting how they would have voted had Bonnie not upped her performance. Nicky had said that her's was the worst of the first performances so with David and Pam's improvement in the skate-off, it would have then been difficult to justify keeping her in. But they would have no doubt found a way!

I still think it is harder to skate on the ice and maybe even lift someone at the same time than hold the position when being lifted by a professional skater - but it is true that it isn't easy for either of the two skaters.

The positives are we will be seeing their best dances this week

Gaynors is the Titanic theme

Bonnies is Big Spender

Stefan will be dancing one of his earlier routines, i 'm shocked they are not doing Mr B as i thought this was his best routine

I agree I'm looking forward to those routines. I assume Stefan isn't doing Mr B because they don't want to use the prop
