What is 41 'supposed' to look like?

Some people get there without a line on their faces and with wonderful bodies intact.

They are the lucky ones and, sometimes, the very vain ones who are self-obsessed and spend their time and money on nurturing their appearances.

The vast majority of us are sagging and wrinkled to a certain degree by the time we reach our 40s, some more so than others. It's the luck of the draw.

If I'd have looked as good as Bonnie does now when I was 31 I'd have been a happy bunny.

I think she looks great with a superb body and a big smile on a face that has never been outstandingly beautiful but has always been very pleasant.

Before you start knocking the smile - which would you rather look at: Bonnie's often genuine, sometimes rather staged, smile or Dame Hissy-Fit's sullen expression and pursing lips?

Excellent observations Slappers, and amen to all that.

Some of you are being very cruel to Bonnie. She and Jayne both have smiley faces, but Jayne carries a lot more weight, so I guess it smooths out the wrinkles.

They're both lovely.

I'm in my (very!) late thirties and people who don't know me always assume I am in my mid-twenties. I am lucky in that I don't have a single wrinkle on my face, but being a lifelong non-smoker and keeping away from sunbeds and hot sunshine has probably helped!

Adding: Nowt to do with how thin or fat I am. Youthful looks run in my family.

I agree about the make-up being ageing. Bonnie is always plastered in make-up and has probably always worn lots being "in the threatre, luvvie" (although I can't say I've ever seen anything she's been in - or heard of her being in anything).

When you see her in rehearsals, her skin without make-up is awful - like the surface of the moon. I wonder how long she has to leave each layer to dry before applying the next one?

But she does look old. I think she should stop the grinning, drink more water to help re-hydrate her skin - and try to bulk up to, ooh, a size 8 maybe.

If you're interested the following link should take you to the bio page of her Web site.

http://www.bonnielangford.co.uk/bio.htm

Most of her work has been in the theatre, rather than on t.v. or in films, so only people who live in London or near where she may have toured will have had the opportunity of seeing her. Also, you have to be willing to drag your bum off the sofa and away from the t.v. and make an effort to see one of the shows she's featured in - and pay the high prices demanded by live theatre these days.

There are hundreds of actors whose names are completely unknown to the general public who make their living from working in live theatre. This doesn't make them any less able at their craft than the regulars on the box, in fact IMO they are probably more able as they have to cover a wider variety of roles than actors who go into a soap or a series and play the same character for years.

She played a small part in the Marple series on t.v. just over a week ago, I thought she was very good.

I bet Bonnie is a SMOKER!!! Her body looks great but her face is very worn out looking and lined and from my experience that is a smoker!! I too was shocked when she said she was 41!! I had expected at least 50 (and I thought she looked good for that age). The show is great and I am really enjoying it.

actually looking at photo's of Bonnie - I think it might be a combination of things - 1)she is very slender so also her figure looks good her face is more lined than normal 2) in every photo's I've seen of her she has a broad smile and as she is in entertainment she probably smiles like this all the time and that would go towards causing the lines on her face - mind you wish I had her figure

She has to be 40ish because she gave birth to Biana (Bibi) in 2000 - She is now 5 and 6 in October I think and also has a stepdaughter.

My mum was at Italia Conti with Bonnie. My mum is one month older.

She is neither a smoker nor a sunbather, past or present. She's a redhead, she couldn't sunbathe for more than 30 seconds without grilling! However, she has skin that is very typical of many redheads, and this skin is very dry and very thin and ages very quickly and prematurely.

For heavens sake, how shallow is this thread? I'm no big fan of Bonnie but have been watching and enjoying Dancing on Ice. Don't get all this bile about the woman. First of all it's her skating (or lack of it) that members are bitching about and now it's her looks.

She's got a cracking figure and looks a great laugh. IMO she looks good for 41 but so what if she doesn't? Who cares? And I'd love to see what some of the posters look like!

Dare I say, the majority of these posters are bitchy women.

What really annoys me is the fact she makes such a big thing about being 41 as if it is really old and how well she's done despite her (ancient) age. She reminds me of elderly peole who delight in telling you they are 80+.
Unfortunately I will not see 41 again but I hope I will be able to learn new skills for many years to come.”

I totally agree - what's 41 these days? It also annoys me because I'm not sure she HAS really learned a new skill - she still seems to be relying heavily on her many years of dancing experience ...

her being so slender is part of the fact the lines stand out on her - but she is 41 my brother and sister in law were on a cruise with bonnie in 2000 the maiden voyage of the Aurora they were both 5months pregnant our Alex was born 29th September and Bonnies little girl in early October - Bonnie was the same age as my brother who has just had his 42 birthday

She can't have been born in 1964. I can remember her on television round about that time and she certainly wasn't a baby. She was more like 11 or 12

I must admit I was surprised to hear that she was younger than me she seems to have been around for such a long time!

Sick of hearing her say 'but I am 41'. She looks like 61 with no make-up on.

Why don't you post a pic of yourself and let's debate how old you are, what sort of nick you're in etc.

She looks older than my dad who is 57. He does look very young for his age though.

I'd have said she was in her late 40s if I was being polite.

If you look at a lot of professional dancers, especialy those who have done ballet all their lives, they wear out quick so to speak. A lot of dancers dont work after 35 because teh body just cant handle it, Bonnie has been constantly going since a child, she is a remarkable woman and has a body most 20 year olds woudl kill for.

She has been wonderful in thsi competition and I wish her all the best.

If anyone woudl like to pass on a good luck message, we are talking to Paul, on our site and have a thread of good luck wishes for each celeb and partner that we are emailing to them at the end of today if anyone wants to say good luck in person.

Site in profile if you want it.
