Bonnie - Foregone conclusion to win from the start

Sorry if this has already been said but i do think its a bit unfair having a professional dancer enter this competition as she quite cleary had an unfair advantage from the start. Its blatantly obvious to everyone she's going to win

no because the phone votes determine who wins in the final, not the judges...
also..although being a dancer is of benefit in the air obviously she looks more graceful when being flung around it isn't on the ice as the stance is totally different,in dance you are told to stand up whereas in ice dancing you have to keep your stance low

If the bookies are anything to go by, Bonnie is their least favourite to win and her odds are lengthening.

i read she was a reserve and only started 4 weeks before the show aired.

So she had less practice anyway.

If you firmly believe she will win, nip to the bookies and put a few quid on it. You'll get fantastic odds. Pigs will sprout wings before Bonnie wins. See, it's a SKATING competition and she could go on the ice in her slippers and still put in a fantastic performance because she's carried or pulled.

Same with Gaynor only people don't seem to be picking up on that for some reason.

I totally agree. Gaynor and Bonnie do the least amount of skating, but one gets away with it while the other is persecuted. Gaynor always looks like she's clinging to Daniel for dear life. Even if she's skating, at least one of her arms is being held by her partner. Bonnie is also supported, but looks far more confident and relaxed on the ice.

I suppose Bonnie did have a head start over the other contestants, being a trained dancer, but then David has been a seriously good skater for a number of years - he was even offered a place with a professional ice-hockey team when he was younger. But that never gets mentioned - only Bonnie is criticised.

I think the fairest result would be for Stefan to win. Quiet, unassuming, getting better by the week. A true skater who does much of his routine on his own unsupported by his partner.

Lol, good advice if someone is so sure of Bonnie winning

To be honest, unless Bonnie garners more support, there is no chance she is going to win. The judges probably spoilt her chances by gushing over her so much, like it or not, that much gushing is very off putting when thinking about voting for someone.

I am still hoping Gaynor can win. But if she doesn't, I have enjoyed the show whatever the final outcome

I don't think Bonnie has any chance as she doesn't have enough public support. It is probably true that the judges' over the top praise has put people off. I presume she must have something special that the viewers can't see for them all to react like that but she does look very unsteady when on the ice - as does Stefan sometimes. I think Gaynor probably has the best chance of winning.
It is unfair to say that anyone has an advantage - they all have something working in their favour and the woman have their challenges too. Bonnie is a dancer but is 41, Stefan is young but had never skated before - I don't know much about Gaynor. While it is true David had skated before - he didn't exactly have a professional ice hockey contract. He said that he had played as a child and was offered a trial at the age of 14 but decided to play football instead and hadn't skated since - apart from the BBC show but that just involved skating around the ice. The fact that he could skate was an advantage but he had to learn the ice dancing techniques like everyone else.
Anyone could still win as a lot can go wrong in the routines but on a normal day it is probably between Stefan and Gaynor.

As with the case of SCD & DOI for that matter imo the scoring point is rather unjustifiable.

The men in both cases will always have the hardest work to do to carry out a routine. So to score & determine who's the better dancer/skater amongst female celebs partnered by professionals) against the male celebs ( partnered by professionals) is unfair.

I think what they should do is have a separate team of male and female competing with each other & the winning celebs on both sides should then be paired for the finals ( dropping their professional partners).

Then it should at least be an even- steven competition.

I hope that makes sense.

best thing to do is not have women celebs in the comp and no lifts allowed

then they can all be judged on how they skate and not how they ice dance

the women are accused of always holding on or being pushed or lifted

So no women, then they cant be accuse of cheating(because thats what they are being accused of)

It might be boring but thats what people seem to like

No need to over dramatise things again. All people say is that if a woman shows they can do basic skating effectively first and THEN perform spectacular lifts then that'll give them more credit rather than flying through the whole series and stumbling every time they are required to dance alone for 10 seconds.

It is about skill AND entertainment. If I had the attitude that I just want to be entertained then I'd plead for someone like Lizzie Bardsley or a Teletubby to have a go. Instead I like to watch somebody who is reasonably good and entertaining and Stefan and Gaynor, for me, are the best at combining both

Bonnie is as good and entertaining as the other two - she is just not as popular it seems

So I suppose Gaynor could go on with her feet encased in concrete and do the same. If Gaynor got pulled or pushed any more than she does, she would be in danger of being mistaken for a trolley.

Gaynor doesn't do the lifts as spectacularly as Bonnie so people don't notice.

And we have seen what happens when just skating and no show happens,

i.e. John, he didnt do his showy routine and was voted off but other men did lifts and showy routines and were kept in by the public and judges

you dont need to have Lizzie or the Tubbies to be entertained but you do need the lifts, just look at the Olympic Gala ice dancers all did lifts that would be illegal in competition because the gala is about showing your wares and entertaining nor about perfect lines of skating
