If I'm using an access number (e.g. 1899, 18185, etc) to obtain an alternative call supplier and I want to ensure my number is withheld (using 141) so that the person I am calling cannot obtain my number , which should I dial first, the access number or 141?

Well to be sure your number is witheld, you should add ''permanent number withold'' onto your line. This calling feature means that you do not need to put 141 before you dial a number and is compatible with access codes.

This calling feature is FREE and can be added by calling BT Calling features line: 0800-789-456.

But I don't want it to be permanently withheld.

I know even with it permanently withheld, I can dial a code to make it visable (so same question would arise), but as I wish to display it more times than withhold it, then my current arrangement is appropriate.

Thanks anyway

Why don't you try calling your mobile with both alternatives and see which one works...?

141 1899, 141 18866, 141 18185 has always worked for me, when I have tested it.

141 only blocks the number from the person you are calling (final destination), and not from other telcos who need the information to process your call.

Using 141 0808 XXX XXXX for cable lines with 1899 still sends the CLI
