Both ended up 3rd.

Bonnie was superb tonight, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching her perfomr her routines week in week out, but half way through the series I was irritated by her lack of ice time in comparison to the others.

I would have loved to have seen her Bolero, its a shame they didnt let her perform it on Defrosted but I guess the night belonged, rightly to Gaynor and dan, whohave been my favourites from day 1.

Fab show.

Bonnie didn't skate very much at all. OK she's a good dancer and very supple for all her 41 years but both Stefan and Gaynor were much better skaters.

Yes I agree - that would have been a nice gesture

I did feel sorry for Bonnie, she has worked very hard, as have the others but I feel that the decision was taken very early on to concentrate on the thrills that Bonnie's superb dancing skills could provide and not enough attention was given to the "bare bones" of skating. Possibly not her fault but I do feel that she didn't do enough proper skating to win. I still admire her for what she did do though.

Why do people think there was some kind of plot to promote Bonnie Langford over the others? For what purpose? Surely it would more suit ITV to promote one of their own soap stars? I don't think there was any favourtism at all.

I agree that in some ways Bonnie had an unfair advantage as she is a professional dancer but hey she's 141 and she did skate, it's ridiculous to say she did not.

Personally, I think some of the debate comes about through lousy directing and camera work. Last night when Chris Dean lifted Jane T on the back of his calf all we got was the camera from the opposite/wrong side and you missed how thrilling that move is. Last week when David S was spinning on both feet the camera cut him off at the ankles and you had no idea if he was on one skate or two which was the required move. I think throughout the directing has been only ok, not helping to pinpoint the bits to look for and judge, which good camera work and replay editing can do. If they can't catch it on the initial run they could easily show it in slo-mo on another camera in the replay. But they didn't.

My guess is that Bonnie doing Bolero would have been the best - and er, yes she does actually put her feet down too folks (no less than Gaynor), but we will never know, it was very cruel to get them dressed up and practiced and then just kick one off - I fail to see why the needed to, why on earth not just put the result on at the end and let them all have a go.

Why don't us fans of Bonnie, email ITV , stating that it was very unfair that Bonnie and Matt could not perform the Bolero after all the hard work, it was unfair to them and their supporters not to see it.

and why don't us stefan fans email ITV and complain that it was very unfair to have a routine that consisted entirely of flying through the air like a trapeze artist, after all his hard work learning to actually skate.

Agree totally.
I would have liked to have seen David & Pam in the final also.

I think they were all fab and I really didn't mind who won but I think they should all have been able to perform Bolero. It was so unfair not to let Bonnie and Matt perform it after he had choreographed it and everything and I bet it would have been a fabulous and spectacular routine! They should have all performed 3 each and then the winner announced!!

The way I see it, it was a bunch of corrie fans that voted. May be they didn't like the idea of a professional dancer winning and voted for a soap opera sweetheart. As with a lot of these non-celebrities I'd never heard of Gaynor until the show...I never watch Coronation Street.

all these programmes ar just a popularity contest in the end they have little if anything to do with skill - it seems to win anything celebrity reality related you have to be in a soap or popular drama and have had a "journey" during the making of the programme - I think the only exception might be The Games where it's actually scored on performance not viewers votes

There was a hell of a lot of skill on show by all the participants in the final. As much as I wasn't a big fan of Bonnie, the fact that she had never skated before is quite astounding considering what she can do now (when she puts her feet on the ice... ) and her physical ability to hold her poise and pose while being flung about and all at the age of 41 is something I'd like some of The Games contestants to attempt...

It's part of the suspense thing that has gone totally into over-kill.
They do this with the Friday finalists on Masterchef Goes Large, let them shop for their ingredients and then send one of them home before the cook off.

The pauses they take before announcing results are nearly long enough to brew a mug of tea it's getting ridiculous.

I agree the camerwork was lousy - it takes a lot of skill to know which shots to show in the correct place and angle - maybe ITV will learn for next time.

Yes, I agree as well, this is true of many reality talent shows - like the X Factor. They seem to think that the majority of viewers watch for the sake of seeing the contestants squirm under an agony of suspense - I can't speak for everyone but I watch these shows for the performances.
