It went just the way I wanted it to tonight. Bonnie third, Stefan second, gaynor winner. I might get virtual stones hurled at me by Bonnie fans now but while I accept she had guts being graceful while being lifted and swinged about she never seemed to do much ice-skating throughout the competition.
Infact tonight was the worst. She didn't do any ice-skating full-stop. She just spent the whole time mid-air and once she was on the ground she just stood still! I appreciate tonight didn't give contestants as much time to ice-skate because of the flying lark but you still saw some proper skating from Gaynor and Stefan.
You may crucify me now.

I will not crucify you because you are right. It is easy for a dancer to pose during a lift. She is also very light and flexible. Stefan had the harder job being the man who had to balance and lift the girl. I think Gaynor deserved to win because she and Dan were really a couple on the ice. They were just brilliant.

Thank you. You know what I found the most absurd? The judges. Ok so Jason Gardiner had good reason to give Bonnie good marks as he judges purely the dance but the others?!
What were they thinking?! They're supposed to judge the ice-dancing, not how well she handles being lifted which by the way she relied on practically the whole time.
When you actually saw her skate it was nowhere near as good as even some of the ones who got knocked out before her.
That's why she tried to skate as far less as she could so as to disguise that and luckily for her her partner obliged by lifting her off the ground for what seemed like more than half the time week in, week out.
But I have to go back to those judges. Never have I been so glad that the final was decided purely on viewer votes. True, they've made some absurd decisions like kicking out John Barrowman way too early but I knew they wouldn't let Bonnie win, going by the results of the last two weeks.
If it were up to the judges, they would've already decided Bonnie was champion. They got blinded by Bonnie's 'gracefulness' and forgot to do their jobs: judging the ice-dancing.

I wasn't being nasty so was there any need for the sarcasm , 2 advantages that rowing can give to a skater: Stamina & Endurance.

Congratulations to Gaynor and to Daniel, he is the very best of the professionals

I really enjoyed the final & would have been happy to see any of the 3 win (my fave - John - went out weeks ago!).
Gaynor really seems like a lovely person, which I think is a lot to do with the final result - she's improved so much too.
There were loads of references last night to her 'love' for Daniel - does anyone know - are they an item?
I know her guy was in the audience, but when interviewed on Defrosted, was very low profile?

I was leaning toward Stefan to win, as his and Kristina's version of Bolero gave me goosebumps, and when it comes to lifting, the bloke has it harder.

However I do think overall Gaynor skated best on the night, and she's a very worthy winner, and I'm perfectly happy that she pulled it off.

Hats off to both of them. What they both managed to achieve is really quite amazing, and very very hard. Very well done to both of them.

We were speculating on this in the real winner thread. Apparently Bonnie and Matt have been 'involved' but if anyone got involved I'd say Gaynor and Dan as he appears completely smitten with her. Notice though how the final 3 had the closest bonds with their partners. Ice dancing really works if you see a close and passionate connection between the two skaters

totally 100% agree......Bonnie, may be a fantastic gymnast/dancer etc....but that is all she did.....where was her skating, they summed it up on loose women yesterday, she could ice skate in her slippers, she spends no time on the ice at all......Gaynor is twice her height (well....almost) !!! Gaynor deserved to win and i think stefan certainly deserved the second place......Bonnie is a fantastic performer but where was her challenge, we all knew she could do the things she did

I don't think that is true Fashion - skills in other areas don't mean you have any advantage on the ice. I did like Gaynor but she did NOT deserve to win - she did none of the complicated stuff that most of the men, and certainly Stefan, kept on having to do and neither did she elevate being draped and flung about into an art form of its own like Bonnie - I don't think people voted for the skating I think they just voted a) cos she was a very nice person b) she's a soap actress and c) she had the best partnership and frankly the award should go to him not her.

If it was about the ice-skating, Bonnie would've been out weeks ago.

A big CONGRATULATIONS to Gaynor and Daniel... Very much deserved winners

After Bonnie had voted out I didn't mind who won, but I'm so glad she did. Both Gaynor and Stefan skated beautiful versions of Bolero and I would've been happy had Stefan won.

Well done to both

Actually Gaynor has already started writing a drama based on her experiences on ice-dancing (yes, Gaynor herself this time, not her mum). Probably hasn't finished it yet.
