USB phone +sipgate help
Ive just bought a USB phone to use with my sipgate account, and no matter what i do i cant get any of the buttons on the phone to work.
It makes the right noises, and the LCD display displays the number but thats about it. The mic/speaker seem to work when configured using X-lite, but how can i get the buttons to work? the phone in question is a Nikkai USB phone info here which i was told would work on any internet phone system. does anyone know how to make it work, or is it a case of take it back to the shop? and if it doesnt work are there any reasonably priced USB phones ( with the keypad on the phone) that do work with X-lite and sipgate? |

try this:
http://www.tjnet.com/software/downlo.../TjInit878.exe it might possibly work, let me know what happens, i will keep searching. i guess the phone has been designed to work with skype, and therefore needs a piece of third party software between x-lite and the usb phone in order to send and receive the correct commands to the phone. |

the TJinit utility doesnt do anything, looking at it, it looks like its designed for a speciffic USB handset.

Apologies, that seems to be quite specific software, i just thought that it was worth a try as it worked with my maplin handset with x-lite.
There is another bit of software that might cure the fault, but im afraid I cannot remember what this is at present. I will have a look for it later on your behalf if it will be of use. Sorry about that. |

Maplin seem to have stopped selling the phone that I purchased. It was a big ugly thing with numbers that looked almost neon in colour, but didn't have an LCD display. It was cheap rubbish, but it proved good for testing purposes.
Why do you want a USB phone for use on Sipgate anyway? Would it not be more convenient for you to purchase one of their phones that connects directly to a broadband router? That's just a thought |

After all the hassle with that phone i saw another one on 'offer' a Cyberphone-W in maplins, so i exchanged the previous phone ofr the cyberphone and after e-mailing coutnerpath support ( providers of the X-lite softphone) they sent me a version of X-lite that works with the cyberphone.
to sum up the Cyberphone-W and its keypad is fully compatable with X-lite. ( although the green/red/skype buttons dont do anything) |
