I'm looking to change from Talk-Talk. U-Switch suggests Planet-Talk at £8.49 per month excl line rental which still remains BT so that you are not excluded from other lo-cost overseas services.
Does anyone know anything about Planet?

Hi jayemcee,
Have a read at my thread Beware BT Option 3 and you will find quite a lot of discussion about Primus/Planet Talk. I think you will find it helpful.

I am with them, not been with them for a month yet, not had a bill, so cant really comment, but from my current experience they are pretty good

Thank you, both.
BT for line rental, then, and Planet for calls with 18185 or whatever for overseas.
And lots of lovely money left over for gin.

Right! Just made the transfer with U-Switch. Used 18185 for the first time over the weekend. 1p per minute to call my daughter's mobile in Brazil! They must have been having a sale
Line not the greatest but at that price...

Just to add - if you switch to Primus 3 via U-Switch, you get a £5 a month rebate (paid quarterly) for a year, making it £3.49 a month for unlimited anytime 01/02 calls.

Add the "Penny Mobile" option, and make calls to mobiles for 1p/min ANYTIME up to 20 mins per call

Bargain of the year or what?

Simon

Yep! Got that. Bargain of the year is right!
I have to say I called their CS line for some information on the switchover and I wasn't too impressed. They suggested I call BT!!
I did, and got the info I needed. Left me a little concerned, though. Ah well, at that price a little puzzlement is OK.

It is down to BT when the switchover takes place, as it is BT who have to send out engineers to the exchange to make the switch, saying that all the people I know who have switched, had the switch-over date emailed to them shortly after signing up.

I heard that penny mobile was 20p for up to 20 mins, so if the call was 10 mins it is still 20p, can anyone confirm or deny this?

That's still a great offer if you call a mobile for more than 2 mins in a go.....

No, no prefix needed, it's a CPS service so automatic routing is done at the exchange.

You can however override the automatic routing for certain calls if you wish, by dialling a prefix, for example you might want to call the USA so would use 18185 to make the call, at 0.5p/min.

18185 is worth using. I called a mobile in Brazil last weekend for 0.5p/minute. Line wasn't great but at that price who's complaining!

I wish to retract my statement made a few weeks ago about Planet Talk 3 with penny mobile option being a bargain.

After 3 failed attempts, and over a month getting their service activated, I called then yesterday to ask when my line is going over (I was told last time I called it was going to be yesterday). They had problems again, and said they'd resubmit the order again, but may take another 3 weeks.

I told them not to bother, and just went up to BT's Together Option 3. Yes, I know it's more expensive, but you get what you pay for... just one bill with my broadband all in....and my monthly payment plan will only actually go up by £2-£3/month as I was overpaying anyway. And it's be activated tomorrow! I didn't go for the discounted deal for 6 months as I wanted to keep my options open.

My advice? Stick with BT for best service and overall customer care. I'm not going to use a third party again as I have had nothing but problems.

And as for Talk Talk - from what I've heard, even though I'd save £22 odd a month with them, I'd rather pay BT the higher amount for the quality of service.

You seem to have problems, yet everyone I know who have taken CPS service have had no problems.

My advice forget BT, give the others a chance.

It is BT that have to action the switch over, maybe the problem lies there.

I think we'll see BT's prices come down in July, when they're restrictions on competition get lifted. I'll wait until then.

I want ONE bill, but don't wanna take my line away from BT.

I've tried these jokers via CPS - One.Tel (nothing but billing issues), Tele2 (Crap CS and lack of communication), and Just Dial Saver (not sending bills on time, or sending them via email 24 hours before the bill is debited).

I wouldn't trust any other company to take my line over either! Especially the jokers above - I'd rather slit my wrists! And as for Talk Talk, forget it. (It now seems that one sh*t company has swallowed up the one's I've tried - coincidence?)

When I moved in with my GF, she had Utility Warehouse for broadband and phone line - she'd just had them put in and sung their praises...... I pointed out that all that glisters isn't gold, and how right I was!!

After numerous billing issues, being cut off for no reason, and having crap latency on broadband and customer services that are only open 9-5 Mon-Fri and who basically didn't give a sh*t about anything - all in the space of 3 months, I got shot of them and I got BT put back in - yeah - more expensive but the internet is lightning fast, CS is open when I want them to be and have had NO issues at all.

I'm not going away from BT again. I'd rather have better quality than a cheap less reliable service again.

You get what you pay for.

Have ebeen withPrimus for about 2 months now and the system (dialling etc) seems to be working fine but I am unable to connect to the e-billing site after I've logged in - I get the message "coiuld not locate remote server". Have talked to Primus and the ploie Scottish fellow could not understand it because he was able to log in to my ebilling site without any problem.

Has anybody else had this problem and, if so, how did you resolve it? (I've tried IE, Avant Browser, Opera etc and have tried disabling my firewall - all to no avail.

LOL

How crazy was that, the reason BT posted them was because JSemple3 couldn't access the site!!!

Great - Here click the link to see the terms even though you are unable to access the site.

You couldn't make it up!
