"The real star of BB who's set to make a mint"

A lot of what's in the interview has been said before, but I found the following paragraphs interesting.

-------------------------------------
He is keeping his cool and clearly doesn't need the counselling that comes free for anyone who has survived the ordeal of being cooped up in that house in Elstree for 10 mind-numbing weeks.

"I'm not going to counselling" he says "I don't need it. People say it's difficult coming back to normal life but I think it's interesting."

-------------------------------------
"I'm not an actor so people think they know me -but they don't. I also got grabbed when I went out the other night. It wasn't scary. I stop and chat and say thanks because they might have voted for me."

"I am still Alex Sibley. There's more interest in me now but I will never take advantage of that. I'll keep it in check"

Thanks Tamara. I haven't seen this article yet. The Express group of newspapers and mags have always been fair and honest when covering Alex & BB3.

The interesting point that comes across, from the quotes you chose from this article, is that Alex is consitently honest and frank about himself, his career and his BB3 experience. Never acting, never arrogant and no sign of the ' prima donna ' that we have seen in a some of the other HMs.
It is these aspects of his character that have appealed to so many of us for so long. Alex is still Alex - he will not exploit the position he has found himself in but has been rather humbled by the whole experience. His devotion to his fans, particularly the younger ones, is admirable.

I think we have had this discussion before on numerous other threads so I will just add......this fella is so photogenic and never mind what he actually does or says........it's all in those seductive brown eyes.

What?????????

Are you saying the Domestos ad was lined up BEFORE he went in the house????

Are you such a slave to the 'Cult of Poppy' that you don't care how daft you're sounding?

There is a clear diference between ' commenting ' on events that took place inside the BB3 House or answering a question posed by an interviewer or having a moan with a friend and bitching ! Alex did not bitch whilst in the House and has not bitched since. And well you know it !

If you do not like Alex then just say so !

Domestos made a statement in a magazine interview that they had their eye on Alex right from when the weegate incident started in the house, so the Domestos ad was being planned.

It was a very positive article with Alex as the cover star of their S:2 magazine supplement. The caption "Alex Sibley -The Real Star of Big Brother..." proves earlier points on this forum that there is a lack of media consensus on the outcome of BB3, in contrast to BB1&2, and also the wider public as a whole (not just BB voters) -- judging by the fact that Jade and Alex magazine covers are better sellers than those with kate/jonny ....oh oops I forgot there hasn't really been a jonny cover).

Another interesting paragraph in this Sunday Express article is :

"The consensus is that Alex will out-earn BB3 winner Kate Lawler as well as fellow runners up Jade Goody and Jonny Regan. And he is doing much better than Spencer Smith, who had hoped to pursue a modelling career but has been told by one agency he is too porky to pose."

There is a good point there. In real terms Kate didn't win with anything like a majority. If she'd got over half the posts we could have been more impressed (and there is a feeling the whole woman winner campaign gives her victory a gimmick feeling). It really is up to the four finalists to make their own fortune.....

I agree with you there Mesostim. I think the opportunities for the 4 finalists would have been the same, irrespective of the order of the BB result. Rather like Will and Gareth in practical terms it doesn't matter who came where, that they were finalists is enough.

In addition, it is my opinion that BB is important only as a springboard to fame. For long term credibility it would be desirable to minimise the BB connection. When Brian disappeared for the 6 months following BB2, what he was effectively doing was trying to distance himself from it by re-emerging once the fuss had died down.

Given the 'equality' of the starting line for the four BB3 finalists, it may even be an advantage to have not won, and in this respect Alex had already started distancing himself from the BB albatross with his wish to walk and also his dinner speech regrets.

Why is it so important to prove that Alex is the so-called 'real star' of BB3? So what if he out-earns Kate or Spencer or Jade or any of them. That's just his luck, I hardly think that the nation is sitting astounded at that fact. He earned more than any of them did before he went in the house and he'll still earn more now (with possible exception of PJ and Sunita if they turn out to be damn good lawyers). If you like Alex, that fair enough that's your perogative. I just don't see why its necessary to constantly compare him to the other contestants with them coming out worse for wear every time.

But it is.

If you don't bitch, but you think it, then you're being dishonest.

If there's anything that I've learnt from this Big Brother, more than anything else, is that we take certain words for granted.

For a person to be honest in the sense that you describe, would have to have something wrong with them mentally.
You can't go through life telling everyone every single thought you have about them, positive or negative.

Words that have been overused in the duration of this year's Big Brother:

Genuine
Bitching
Bullying

You could take any single housemate you wanted, and find the necessary edits to make them guilty of any of those "crimes".

Well said- I totally agree.

And also there was the wannabe housemate Avid Merrion
who can be proved guilty of being Genuine, Bitchy and Bullying
on every one of his appearances, and all at once too, with scarcely an edit.
So that makes him a genuine bullying bitch, at least he didn't just think about it , he was genuine.

If the four finalists play their cards right they will not have to live with the BB tag in any future career......why?....because they may have the talent to succeed.

In previous years all the BB bods have been accused of being talentless wannabes who nobody really wants at their party. Alex does have some charisma about him and that is mainly because he has not changed in his attitiude since leaving the house. Jade.....well, she's just Jade and is still grabbing the column inches. Kate and Jonny are the unknown quantities.......could they actually do the one-legged chicken dance without one another? We have yet to find out but at the moment Alex seems to be in demand and slightly ahead of the others when it comes to the party invites....the only thing is that Alex probably won't accept.

She 's an engaging bubbly character. Loud, proud and funny.

The real question is WTF Jonny or Kate is good for. Crash test dummies?

Errrm - that's not really a talent is it. Can she sing? Act? Read an autocue perfectly whilst recieving instructions from the gallery better than any a number of other wannabes? Being well edited for three weeks isn't a talent......If it was she would have won it.....
Relugus

By crash test dummies, do you mean that Jonny and Kate are indestructible?

Alex was predicted to be the biggest financial winner when BB3 started, I recall. He's a model, so he is telegenic, and more media-savvy than the other HM's.

Kate has the potential to be a long-term success. She is with the same agency as Brian (PFD), and, like him, she will need quite a bit of coaching; Brian's early TV appearances were underwhelming. Note that she has not courted the tabloids.
BTW: She would have to have done an "audition" before being offered the Capital Radio gig. They wouldn't blindly give her the job.

Jade is this year's Helen, the media's "creation". It was obvious that she would be the short-term star, as the media, having "created" her, controls her. What happens when she doesn't sell newspapers?
(Remember that the Sun declared Helen the "real winner" last year; the "real winner"of course being whoever the Sun backs, by an uncanny coincidence.)
