Doctor Who Villains - which ones for Series 3,4,5,6... ?
Eaglestriker

I was wondering - we've had the Daleks, we're about to have the Cybermen, and series 3 is probably gonna be Daleks again - but if it isn't, which villains would you like to have back in series 3 and beyond?

I'm going for the Sontarans or Ice Warriors for Series 4 (if they make one) because I reckon they're just one down from the Cybermen in terms of popularity.

Or should we give the Zygons a proper go? Or perhaps the Master?

My predictions are

The Master: Series Two/Three

Ice Warriors: Series Three

Sontarans: Series Four

Would love to see the Zygons return as thought they were great adversaries and with the fx of today much better than the Slitheen.

Magnus Greel from Talons also a great character..shame he was killed off..same with Sutekh.

Another Abominable Snowman story would be welcome.

One to avoid would be the Rani!!!

Yes, the modestly-titled Great Intelligence gets a vote from me too (that's not meant to refer to the Rani, in case anyone wondered. )

Would like to see a revamped Sea Devils.

The Master, Sontarans, Zygons, Ice warriors, Yeti would all be good; the Master being my favourite. What about the Draconians? I can't remember what happened in their last outing.
By the same token though, some of the great stories of old, such as "Talons of Weng Chiang", "The Robots of Death", "The Pyramids of Mars", and "Inferno" have non recurring villains/enemies but remained excellent stories. I think this could be a better way for the new series to develop.

I'm not overly keen on the 'big bad' idea for Doctor Who, its a bit too 'Buffy' for my liking.

I'd much rather they stick to the formula of the majority of the classic series, with the occassional return of a popular monster/enemy and a large dose of new original ideas.

So if we are to see the return of the likes of the Ice Warriors, Silurians, Sea Devils or Yeti, I'd personally perfer them to appear in a self contained episode, or maybe two-parter, but not to dominate a season. I think they can get away with having a Cyber-heavy season this year, but I don't think any of the other monsters bar the Daleks pack a big enough punch to give them too much airtime.

Similarly with the Master, if he is to return (and I would welcome that), I'd again like to see him limited to perhaps one outing per season.

Providing the story added a new aspect to the creatures and wasn't a retreading of the original, I'd also welcome back the Zygons, and perhaps the Terileptils too.

I'd like to see more new monsters/villains and better than the slitheen too
If I had to choose an old one returning probably The Ice Warriors

I agree with your predictions. I think the Ice warriors will cetrainly be in S3 and that the Sontarans will be in S4.

I doubt they could get any villains worse than the Slitheen - could they?

Definitely the Zygons - the fact that they only appeared once in the classic series is a great shame as their design was superb (except for the rather obvious microphone in the 2nd hole down).

With today's technology, the shape shifting would be a doddle, (and I think a Skarasen would be a lot better too!)

Completely agree! Beautiful design even if it was let down by the obvious microphone and great villains...plus none of that silly farting nonsense!

The Ice Warriors weren't always villians were they? Thats a nice touch.
I expect we'll see some of the Slitheens non-evil relatives at some point too.

The one that could be good if they really want to push the CGI would be the Zarbi

I think 1 or 2 returning old monsters a year is more than enough, don't wan't to over do it!
I do think it's time for the Ice Warriors to return, and the Zygons, very underated.
What about the Terileptils from "The Visitation", again with a little bit of CGI...
Or Nabil Shaban, returning as Sil, that laugh still gives me the creeps, and I'm neary 37...

Sil was a good character and would welcome his return. Terileptils would need better costumes but as you say with CGI........as long as they didn't look as bad as the CGI they did on the Slitheen.
