I would agree, if she wasn't so actively trying to distabilise the group, from the footage we've seen, it seems obvious that tries to bait people on points of their personality which may be unpopular with the public, Tara and her champagne lifestyle, Nigel and his Macho Boxing (as she sees it) and his religious conversion, Darren and is laddy behaviour, and liking for pretty girls.

But when they act better than she expects, with Tara actually having a good group spirit, and not really appearing to look down on anyone, Nigel when challenged about being aggressive, instead of getting worse, actually took time to explain that in his family they talk loudly, but don't mean anything by it, in a calm manner, sensing that the other maybe a bit threaten by the fact his was a boxer, and don't quite understand him, Darren, when Rhona decides she can have a dig at him, about being a bit effeminate (frank spencer and all that), and that he doesn't respond in a laddy way, but instead tell her he was hurt by her comments... she feels that its ok for her to say what she likes, doesn't appologise, and carries on as if she's somehow got the monopoly on being disadvantaged, and thus untouchable...

Yeah, but here we differ. I don't think she is actively trying to destabilise the group. I just think she dosen't have the social skills/comprehension to deal with this situation effectively. I think in some ways she has behaved badly, but I know if I had two men screaming abuse at me (when you have to admit, she asked them, very calmly, to stop) I wouldn't be sure I would be able to stay in the camp - I'd probably have gone there and then. I've written on another thread that I think she should leave now.

I don't think Rhona's behaved well, but I think your portayals of the other 3 are a bit skewed. Everyone has their good and bad points, but it's not just Rhona that Nigel's behaved obnoxiously to, is it? He threatened to "chin" Christine - he might not have done it, but it's not civilised behaviour. Think how childish he was over the boxing with Tara, and his control issues in the kitchen. And I seem to remember Darren becoming infantile pretty quickly when Tara challenged his masculinity - he only got over it when she relapsed into flirt mode. And Tara herself appears to have stopped pulling her weight, and isn't averse to a bit of bitchery herself - just in a more "typically" female manner.

True, I'm by no means suggesting that the other 3 are perfect, infact I always had Darren Day down a a bit of a pratt before seeing him on this show, they can definitely be infantile, no question. But I feel Rhona feels she has the right to dictate what is or is funny, because she is articulate, but very very patronising, and she knows that maybe Nigel, Tara & Darren have intellect as one of their perceived weak points.

But she sets herself, alternative comedian, politcally correct, hater of all things "naff", girly or carefree, and in particular as not caring what people think of her.. but why is she on the show?
Given the stall she sets out, there were a million others ways she could raise money for charity. I say, as with a few others it is to help her career. Nigel & Tara don't need the money from the careers, so that puts her in the same boat as Darren perhaps, but at least he's honest enough to face the fact that he does care what people think, and not hide behind a community that do face hardships, just for your own ends.

I guess if Rhona what I'm saying is if Rhona had dispute based on what she saw before her, then fine, but what she does is when people don't see things her way, she escalates it to astronomical proportions, which don't apply, just to get right on her side, and put the other on the defensive, when in real terms she is the aggressor!!

maybe I'm missing the point, but I think that Nigel using his physical strength against the others is so out of the question, I'm having trouble thinking that people really feel threatened by it

I don't know - it's having different opinions on things that makes this forum fun - - but I still feel you're a bit hard on her. After all, Tony's naff, Nell's girly, & Christine's carefree, and she's managed to co-habit with all of them fairly well!

I suspect that by normal standards none of them need really the money - I think I read somewhere that Rhona has her own production company (don't quote me - I may be wrong!) There's nothing intrinsically wrong with them going on for the enhancement of their public profiles - it's just really odd that Tony Blackburn's the only one to successfully manage it so far!

And no, I didn't think Nigel would chin Christine. But I thought it was a thoroughly unpleasant thing to say, and he didn't seem to be saying it in jest - he might not have hit her, but he said it to be intimidatory (not that I would think Christine even noticed that!)

Perhaps Rhona is patronising to Darren, Nigel and Tara because she finds them stubornly stupid. I've shared houses with people like that - It's difficult to bite your tongue and keep quiet, but at least you have your own space. In the jungle you're stuck with them 24/7 - Them and their ego's. Rhona is coming off worse becaue there are three of them and she never started very well to be honest. My sympathy is with her though.........

I know what you mean about having shared houses with people who don't listen, but they usually stay ignorant to the very end, and don't try and understand what your point is. Tempers flare naturally,:mad but so far I think everyone has actually tried to understand where she's coming from, and appease her, and actually explain themselves to her, Nigel, who I guess wouldn't profess himself to the greatest public speaker, still put himself on the line to try and bring the group together with his big bygones speech, and hugs.

I sure you must know people that think things are to good to be true when they are just ticking alone nicely, so they mess things up a bit so they're back on turf they understand, the problem is Rhona likes to give,it but she can't take it (no pun intended )

I'm hoping that Nigel goes and Rhona stays.

You're right it is differences in opinion that make thing fun, and I think that applies to all of them. But I think despite her firery personality , Rhona is obviously a very insecure person, and to mask that she makes a premptive strike on the weak points, so she can "defend" herself. Everything everyoneelse has said, can stay safely with in the confines of the show, but the mud she's thrown at Nigel will probably get him lynched if he ventures through Soho of an evening, and to be fair to him, regardless of his christian faith, what has he actually said to say that he looks down on Rhona for her sexually tendencies, just because his probably fits the profile of someone who has given her a bit of grief in the past?

I can't believe that snorting loads of coke is in the bible, but he doesn't have a problem with Tara, so why would he single out Rhona?, one day Rhona is just going to have to face that people don't like her, simply because of her, no other reason for her to blame.

Oh yes and to answer your point about the finger waving, if I took myself off into a joint environment, then proceeded to talk patronisingly to all of my camp partners, then one I could take him in a fight, told the other effectively that she's a childish rich bitch, and told another that they are an f'ing bible-bashing tosser who should f'off out of my space, and they punched me in the face, I'd think I'd probably deserve it.

Come on, surely you can see that Rhona is causing this situation, eh? Why are you defending her? What is it about NIGEL that allows you to negate Rhona's wrong doings? Like Nigel is a boxer skilled in the art of boxing, Rhona is a comedian, skilled in the art of making fun out of people weaknesses, to hide their own, and the art of premptive put downs. Circumstances prohibit Nigel using his skills, but Rhona is using hers to the full, and to max effect.
