and it's slated for a May 1st release - so we know then that the series will start before that date.

surely all 3 episodes on the dvd will have aired before they release it so,counting back, that should give a latest date of 15th april for the series to start

Wow! That cover is a bit bling! Certainly is going to jump out of the shelves at you!

Getting more excited by the minute. Is the 'Children in Need' section going to be on it?

Woah, hold your horses there.

The DVD cover shows only Christmas Invasion and New Earth (the 1st proper ep of Series 2) on it so it's only got one new episode on it so it could even mean a start as late as April 29th (though the 15th is the red hot favourite!)

The cover is a bit...boring. There's no imagination in it.

No, but a lot can be told from the pose they have Rose and the Doctor in...

The previous images of Doctor 9 and Rose showed he clutching on to him as he showed her wonderous things, while this one shows Rose still clutching on to the Doctor, but he not quite as sure within himself and looking more worried.

This can perhaps indicate DT's Doctor won't be quite as cocksure about his dealings and have so much bravado and panache as Doctor 9 was...

I may be reading too much into this, but we'll see

Rose looks - "What are they Doctor?!"

The Doctor looks around - "Watch out Rose - CAMERAS!"

He is supposed to be the "no second chances kind of guy" which I assumed would make him a bit more 'dangerous'..

a whole two episodes, with no extras seems like a waste of a DVD to me, heck its a waste of a VHS tape to me

Is there any clue in the fact that Rose is holding onto the "hand that scares her" in the dvd cover.

I am going to hold out til November for the boxset and extras again..though hopefully we will get a better design that doesn't fall to pieces next time!

I dont blame you, DVDS are over priced, and DVDS can hold alot more than 1 hr 45 minutes worth of programing on them

I thought her costume was rather telling! Given in series one she looked like her clothes came from down the market, on the cover she looks a bit more sophisticated.

She is dressing a lot better these days so perhaps Rose is picking his pocket to fund her shopping trips!

Rose's head looks like its been photoshopped on, it just makes her neck/shoulders look odd.

So with the 12 remaining episodes spread over 3 volumes that's 4 episodes per volume (maths genius!)
But will the 2-parters fit within the volumes as per Series One?

Do we know for sure that there will only be four volumes in total? It seems odd that the first volume will only contain two episodes (TCI and episode one of Series 2)

From the BBC Doctor Who website

Quote:
“Four further DVDs will be released, each containing three episodes apiece, before a complete, extras-enhanced set becomes available at the end of the year.”

...so there will be one extra 'vanilla' release this year. I don't think there has been any information as to whether the box set will have an extra disc as well.

I haven't watched the extras on my new series boxset more than once, and haven't listened to the commentaries at all. If I watch the series, I tend to watch my "vanilla" ones. Will be buying the series two vanillas, and probably holding off on the series two boxset til it comes up int he sales!

I love the cover that has been released so far. V eye-catching, I think.

chuff.x.

ps ...
I hate that word "vanilla" in this context, just as I have done when used in a sexual context. It seems v tacky.

have ot admit the only extra I really like is the audio commentrys, if the vanilla release contained those, I wouldnt bother with the boxset
