It's hardly hot enough to be in an Australian rainforest, and in any case would they really build an entire studio for Ant and Dec's links in a REAL Australian rainforest?

Do you not think that the "camp" is too perfect? it doesn't seem that dense at all - there's hardly any forest around them.

Plus, where's the satellite delay in the links? Let alone the "phone lines close in 2 mins" that Ant and Dec say towards the end of each programme. How - even with modern technology - do they close phone lines, check results, feeback results to the "Australian" production team in time for Ant and Dec to walk through the dense Australian rainforest to the camp and give the results with satellite delay in 2 minutes and still claim it "Live"?

Interesting. I think that they are indeed in the bush, in Australia but other than that I'm beginning to wonder myself about some of the other issues you raise. I get the impression that they are not as far away from ' civilisation ' as they are stating.

Just a word about the phone vote - as far as I can tell it's perfectly feasable to have the vote close and the result to Ant and Dec within the 2 minutes.

The votes will all be computerised, and updated in real time, and there's no reason why the real-time results can't also be visible in Australia in near real-time (within a second or two).
And Ant & Dec have got radio earpieces - and we know that the studio is very close to the camp from the whole bridge thing + the fact they can walk there so quickly.

And besides, who's to say they don't 'close' the lines a minute or two early?

Don't forget that it's the end ot the Australian winter/beginning of spring, hence it'll be a reasonably comfortable heat with low humidity. Summer would be absolutely unbearable, and it would also rain constantly.

They are based in the location used for the second American series of Survivor, so no, they didn't build it themselves - that was done by the Americans!

Think about it for a moment - truly dense forest would be impossible to work in with a large, mobile crew like the one they have.

Why would you notice a delay?

The show is completely self-contained from Australia - there are no live links with presenters in the UK - so there's nothing to make the satellite hop noticeable.

As has been pointed out, it's absurdly easy. The phone-vote data is constantly updated in real time (they use computers, you know), and the final result is known the second the phones close.

I would guess that a production assistant in Australia calls the phone vote people a few minutes ahead of time and waits on the line to hear the result, then immediately gives that to Ant & Dec. There's no reason why they can't know the result within five seconds of the vote closing.

What's your obsession with the satellite delay? It'll only be a second or two at the very most - the days of five- or ten-second satellite lags are LONG gone!

Plus, Ant & Dec themselves have said that they're only a short walk from the celeb camp. Remember, this isn't Big Brother, it isn't about shutting the celebs off from all other human contact, it's about putting them together in an unfamiliar, potentially hostile environment and seeing how they react.

The celeb camp also needs to be easily and quickly accessible in the event of accidents, and to aid the technical requirements of the production, so they were never going to put it miles away from the production centre.

There was actually a slight delay on the first edition when the "celebrities" were still at the hotel. That's my pedantic remark for the day gone now

I had a feeling Celeb Big Brother was fake.

Jack Dee was spotted "outside" the house, and the story was he escaped. They probably all went home at night after spending an hour or two filming in the BB compound each day.

My brother watches a fantasy programme Lost World based on the novel of the same title Sir Arthur Conan Doyal (its pretty stupid actually), its on the scifi channel about 6pm. He told me that where they film the programme is where they are having to survive in. They have actually been making the show now for a few years having to work in the same area as the Celebs. It does make you wonder about the conspiracy theory. Especially as a film crew and actors have been working here for a number of years.

What conspiracy theory?

Anyone who claims that the show is some kind of hoax clearly understands nothing of the cost and logistics of television production.

To put it simply : they would gain NOTHING by faking it up in the UK. What they would save in airfares and satellite time they would lose in the phenomenal expense of trying to create a large outdoor rainforest location full of exotic plants from scratch. It's much easier, and in some respects slightly cheaper, to go to Australia and do it for real.

If it was made in the UK it would be impossible to keep secret - you can't hide a production that big in an island as small and densely-populated as ours; someone living nearby would have blown the whistle long ago. Then of course they'd be subject to the vagaries of British weather, where cold and rain in late summer are almost guaranteed - in the north-east of Australia the weather is almost 100% predictable at any time of year (warm and dry with occasional showers in winter/spring, hot and humid with daily torrential downpours in summer).

And of course, in the very first show we saw the celebs taking the journey to the camp, including their helicopter trip over classic Australian rainforest scenery. Are you suggesting that they flew them to Australia to film those scenes, then brought them back to do the show itself?

The show is really coming from Australia. End of argument.

Hmm! I never said it wasn't filmed in that in Australia all I was hinting that it might not be as tough as what we think it is after all it is a location for a TV programme and as been for a couple of years. If the actors and crew who make the programme can stand the environment then it does make you wonder. I would give you the website of the programme for you to look for yourselves to judge but I don't know if I am allowed to put a link on here to another site.

What would be the point of making life easy for the celebs?

The producers *want* the celebs to have a tough time, because then they're far more likely to start falling out with each other and revealing their true personalities - you only ever see what someone's really made of when the chips are down.

Okay, the production team might slip the celebs the odd fag or other small luxury here and there, but there would be no point whatsoever in carting them off to a luxury hotel every evening and filling them with five-star food - comfortable, well-rested, well-fed celebs would be a complete waste of time for this programme.

You have still have not read what I have wrote or understood it or perhaps I have not made it clear properly the celebrities are living on a set which is used every year for a TV programmes. If you don't believe me check for a TV programme called Sir Arthur Conans Doyle Lost World. If it was as dangerous as what they say it is then they would not make a costly TV programme that is sold around the world.

Of course its real, just because I saw Nigel down my local chippy the other day, does not mean they are really not there.

Well I have never said it was fake I do believe they in Australia I just don't think the place is very tough and the reason I know it isn't because the said TV programme I have been going on that I know does get filmed in the area and in that location has had my cousin who lives in Australia appear as an extra in a few of the shows, I have just had an email from him. The reason I know he is telling the truth because I have seen him in it and very soon they are about to be filming the next series and they should have been filming earlier but unfortunately because they had trouble with estimating the amount of people watching it or something I don't quite understand what he was going on about they nearly had it cancelled due to the fact they never got the numbers in quicker enough from the American TV channel or something. So from that information you can tell that my cousin knows a lot about working with the show. I never said anything earlier because I wanted to hear from my cousin and I stayed up late just to get his email. If he is not afraid to work in that area then I am sure the contestants would not be. In fact he told me that parts of the area is very pretty.

I don’t think the tasks are fake because I think I would have found them difficult even if the snakes weren’t poisonous in Nigel Benn’s task and Rhona did go in that box. The show is getting filmed and I think the hardest thing has been the contestants living together and getting on each other’s nerves which have not been fake also.

As I have said earlier the only thing I think is that has been over exaggerated is the fact the area where they are is very dangerous. In fact I have never said anything has been a fake.

It certainly looks for real but in a controlled environment ..... which makes it not quite as dangerous or remote as is suggested.

There are some valids points here , perhaps I can clear up some of the ones about delays etc.

The location is Oz.....and no doubt a fabricated set within a "Jungle" environment , as "Drifting" noted...but certainly not in the depth of the Jungle as the programme makers would like to have us believe.
The fact is they produce and edit on site , the whole programme is then fed back to the UK live via satellite.

The satellite feed has at least 3 hops (each of over 44,000 miles , the resultant signal delay is just under 3 secs from the last hop to live ITV.So the whole delay will be about 5 secs

Anyone with the riight equipment can see the signal coming into the UK each night at 2100 , and can also listen in to off air comments etc during the broadcast.....more entertaining than the programme !
Basic satellite technology.

Ant and Dec are there , on site....so too are up to a hundred production crew.So when A and D say it's just them and the celebs..."them" means an entourage of dozens !

It seems there are few remote cams , so each celeb knows exactly when to play up to the camera...and when not to.

Fly on the wall .... not really , but a nice income for failing celebs who want to re-launch their careers.

This programme could just as well have been made in Kew Gardens , but ITV decided to give it a tropical flavour instead.

Bottom line.....it's people watching which seems to be in vogue at present ...the "Jungle" angle is just a diversion .
