Yeah, her poem was entertaining, I'm not dishing it, she broke the atmsophere a bit. I'm aslso not going to praise her for it, it isn't difficult for an adult to write sucha thing.
Rhona's speech was must more articulate & done on the spare of the moment.
”

Exactly. Tara's poem was ok.......for a 9 year old. Coming from a grown woman it was pretty embarrassing (I also think she'd been given a bit of help with it).
But Rhona showed herself to be sharp and articulate, all in a split-second.

When I was little, I can remember a woman called Pam Ayres who actually got invited on mainstream TV to read out her heartwarming, piss-poor poetry. Tara's reminded me of that...

Hmmm Sharp, as in knife, well we know she loves to stick it in whenever possible. Articulate, yeah she swears coherently and fluently. So your right I guess.

Don't you think you're all missing the point???

It wasn't written as an entry for an international competition - it was written in appreciation of her counterparts. A little bit of humour, an expression of her feelings - a little diversion from their stark surroundings. She doesn't claim to be a poet and should not have her shortcomings judged as such.

It's really awful to denegrate people for their positive efforts regardless of who they are. You shouldn't have to do backward flips on a tight -rope to be acknowledged. Our lives are going to be made up of many more little successes than huge accomplishments therefore is a little encouragement too much to ask for while waiting for the big one?

The thread title is Tara for Poet Laureate. Maybe that is what people are arguing against. Not the bitching one's poem.......

Fair point, a better title might have been just Tara The Poet.
Rabbits rule! They're so cute.
