Blimey, looking at Google images for evidence of Terry Wigon's wig, and found this picture from the olden days. Even his real hair looked like a wig... (It gives you an idea of what Dara O'Brien would look like with a syrup though).

One of my old friends is an actor and had a minor part in some film SC was in, a few years back. He told us that before Mr C came on set, the cast and crew were assembled and told there were two things no-one could mention in front of the diva. These were:
(a) hith lithp and
(b) hith thyrup.

Male pattern baldness can be quite devastasting and hard to adapt to for a lot of men.

I always had a great head of hair and I was looking forward to turning into a 'silver fox'. Then one morning at work, where there were two mirrors opposite each other and a strong light, it was obvious I was quickly going bald; almost overnight. I was stunned. I didn't think I had the correct shaped head to shave it all off and become a 'bear'. But I did and after a while I got used to it.

But some people never do. I often imagine them at home, straight out of the shower and the door goes with them scrambling for their bathrobe and wig.

LOL. Sorry. I had to dig this old thread up again because I have just seen Tony Blackburn on TV and his wig is absolutely terrible. . I've said it time and time again, but this time it was the worst example of hair replacement imaginable.

The hair at the back just sticks up, like it's not stuck down properly. And the way it's combed back into this rigid style is so fake. Yes, I have said it all before but on this show I saw his wig from all angles, dire, awful, fake and embarrassing. It doesn't even look like real hair. I guess horse hair.

Please, please, Tony, get yourself a better wig maker. Sack your current one!!! PLEASE.

I think the stuf at the back that sticks out is Tony's real hair, it's the stuff on top that's fake.

To be honest I think a wig looks better than the bald snooker ball look.

You'd be surprised how much jiggery-pokery goes on in the world of TV and film. Even people with decent hair get plenty of touch ups, or slight hair pieces to cover up receded temples when filming etc. Even girls sometimes have to use hair concealer for photo shoots because the bright light reflecting off their heads makes them look like they have MPB. And all those "candid" photos on the beach etc? Totally staged. I'd say that a large majority of hollywood superstars have actually had some form of work done/medication/concealers/slight hairpieces, without the public being aware. It's just the really bad wigs that get caught out. Enrique englasis wears a wig btw, I think it's fairly obvious looking but a lot of my female friends seemed suprised.

I actually don't see what's wrong with men trying to keep their hair, as long as whatever they use isn't completely ridiculous looking. Hair frames the face, and its also one of the things that a very slight difference in the hairline can make a huge difference to appearance. Considering the long list of cosmetics women use (including hair extensions and wigs might I add), can men be forgiven to trying or at least being upset about losing such a huge defining factor in their appearance?

I saw an interview on TV a few days ago following the death of Robin Gibb with Cliff Richard. His wig is getting very obvious now. Maybe Robin gave him some tips?

The thing that gets me is that it must be so uncomfortable having something glued to your scalp in a very hot environment . They all work in television and the heat from the tv lighting must be unbearable.

I mean Wogan, Forsythe, Blackburn are all men of advanced years and you think they would be able to enjoy their remaining years without worrying about a bald head. They are all multi-millionaires and don't have to worry about money or work.

It seems Vanity is more powerful than any other emotion and rules their lives no matter what age they are.

Funny how you never hear this topic discussed on tv, I mean specifically celebrity wigs.

There seems to be a stigma behind these sort of things for men. I don't wish to go on a crusade or anything but baldness seems to be one big joke "wigs, lmao" and the same for other sensitive topics like viagra. Whereas women can talk openly about HRT, sex toys, plastic surgery, and cosmetics. Maybe if women were more affected by baldness men would have a cure by now

And you speak about vanity ... I think we're all a little vain aren't we? No-one likes to age and even when we do age I think most at least try to put their best foot out there. Whether you're 20 or 50 to see your once thick head of hair disappearing to leave patches of scalp and age you 20 years is never pleasant or easy to deal with. Yes same here! His hair looks far too young for his age. Him and Cliff are mates so I wouldn't be surprised if they use the same bloke.

He definitely did, and it was awful.

There is a photo of him receiving his OBE a few years ago and he's as bald as a coot in it.

Eddie Jordan must wear a wig, his looks so obvious. If he doesn't he needs to sack his barber.

Cliff's definitely wearing a wig. It just looks so obvious. He's going to the wrong person if he's after a convincing wig. I'll never understand why some men feel the need to wear a wig for.

I doubt Mike Read has a wig - he has the thickest hair I've seen on a man his age (65) - although he must dye it.

I've met him a number of times, seen him play tennis, hot and sticky and his hair reflected this.

Cliff - not sure, it's thining, but didn't look like a wig when I met him.

Rod Stewart - always suspicious of his - his brothers are both bald as a coote, but Rod's has always looked the same.

I agree. I'm sure none of the women who bemoan "vanity" wear make-up or colour their hair etc etc
