3G and non 3G phones
Quick question.
Is it possible to put a non 3G sim card into a 3G phone and visa versa. Long story but me and my brother are on orange contracts and i can upgrade for free to nokia N70 which my brother wants. (It will cost him £100) I want to keep my spv m500 but if i upgrade to the nokia will get a 3G sim. His sim is non 3G. He knows he wont be able to use some functions (video calling etc) but doesnt care. Anyone know anything about this??? Help appreciated Dave |

A non-3G sim should work in a 3G phone just fine. I own the N70, and when I got the phone it came with a 3G SIM (O2). However, I was able to use may old O2 Pay and Go SIM (which is over 5 years old, from the BT Cellnet days and definitely not 3G).
As you mentioned certain 3G related features on the phone are disabled if you don’t use the 3G SIM but other then that it accepts older SIMs just fine. |

). But it would not make or receive calls at all (and yes the 3G SIM was active as it worked fine in the 3G phone ) Both phones were on Orange too so it shouldn't have been anything like them being locked. So looks like compatibility may not be 100% then. But I pretty sure you won't do any damage by trying it. |
