I bought a Philips DVDR3305 a few months ago. I set it up and it was working perfectly. I turned it on yesterday and the picture has these terrible red patches on it I've checked the connections, scanned for channels again but I just can't get rid of it. Heres a screen grab of the red patches

it doesn't look that bad in this grab but it does get worse. Any idea how to fix it or shall I just take it back to the shop and get a replacement?

Recorders usually include amplify the signal a tad - and that looks over amplified - if you have a seperate signal amplifier maybe take it out & try again

You could try switching output signal between RGB/Composite/S-Video

Other than that i'd be reluctant to mess around, and just take it back

they prolly swap it - if the new one does same, get your money back

Thanks for your help but I think I'll just take it back to the shop
