Hi Folks

Just come back from the states and saw lots of people using their mobiles as Walkie Talkies - I have also seen them on the TV using them the same -

has anyone else seen this or know is it available / will it be available in the UK?

Thanks

Chris

I listen to alot of US radio i know exactly what your on about Its called 'Boost Mobile' basically their special phones that have a inbuilt nationalwide walki talki function. Go to www.boostmobile.com for more info and phones and stuff. I quite like the Nextel i860 phone :| very stylish i seen some celebs around with it.

*Note - the i860 isnt on the boostmobile site now but the i875 looks great stuff !!! majority of the phones can be brought of eBay if you want one of erm.

I have Push to Talk on Orange & my Nokia N70. If the phone supports it you need to call Orange Customer Services to activate this on your account and to enable the SIM through a SIM Update.

they featured this on the gadget show last year.

i'm not sure it will ever be as popular as texting if it is broadly available over here.

If they target the right people over here, I think it will become a good service.
They just need more advertising, and targeting the right people, and im sure they will get quite a few customers.
Also, more networks will need to have the service for more people to use it.

and additionally the cost.... in the US i believe it costs next to nothing, or actually nothing on some networks. Its hugely popular over there as well because of the complex network tarrifs, some networks actually charge to receive calls...
